We were staying at the hotel on a half board basis and had dinner here on our anniversary. The table was beautifully decorated and all the staff greeted us and wished us a happy anniversary. If on half board you can pay a supplement for a wider choice of dishes however we were happy with what was on offer. Starters of deep fried shrimp and lentil soup were both tasty. For mains the lamb shank was delicious as were the skewers but, be warned, the portions are generous! We attempted to share a dessert but couldn't finish it. Overall, food was fabulous and service excellent. However, drinks are very expensive.

Having seen the BBC 2 programme before we left the UK I cannot tell you how poor I found this experience in the signature restaurant of this new resort hotel on our second night. I chose the Shrimp and Potato Fritters followed by the Omani Lamb Shank (but they had none and did tell me it would be lamb chops).

Do not choose the first dish. It has no real flavour and is just deep fried "stuff" with the odd small shrimp that does not really taste; it is mono coloured, mono textured and plain bland. I could not bring myself to finish it.

The lamb was dreadful. The whole dish was really poor. All it was were four lamb chops - not properly seasoned or spiced on plain brown rice; no colour from even one sprig of herb, no concept of culinary design. Flagship restaurant?! Sorry but this was a very bad effort. I saw skill on the BBC 2 programme but this is so poor it means the Hotel has no really quality to offer diners, the other places being an Italian Bistro and the Buffet Restaurant. Both are far better than this. You are paying top $ and this was dreadful. It needs addressing if this place is to prosper.

Service was dreadfully slow but the server was nice. I did not rate the décor or ambience. Please review your whole offering quickly. You can and must do much better.

Chef Ebrahim looked after us and made sure we had amazing food which catered to our specific dietary requirements too.

What can we say: a beautiful Restaurant (no outside seating though as far as we could see) with a great menu and very good quality. The mocktails are delicious.

Exceeded all expectations. Premium service (thank you Usama :)) and excellent food in an authentic and athmospherical ambiente!
