Some nice exhibitions, I didn't visit the special exhibition but busy and a good atmosphere. Giant doll was crazy! Would recommend for something to do and next to shopping area.

Thank Gemma L

Outstanding art gallery. Starting with an architecturally impressive building, the exhibition rooms and art pieces were excellent. We had a great time strolling around and viewing the modern art collection... Some beautiful, some challenging, some weird... all inspiring. Thoroughly enjoyable! :)

Thank radds

This is listed as 'Takamatsu City Museum of Art' in my guidebook but it may now have dropped the 'City'. I was really impressed by this place. Apparently it only reopened last month (March 2016) after being refurbished and we saw their first temporary exhibition (items from their collection introducing Japanese contemporary art from the 1960s onwards, on until 17th April 2016).

A couple of the works I recognised from similar pieces we'd seen on [far more expensive/pretentious] Naoshima, and there were a couple of pieces by artists known worldwide. There are currently over a hundred works on display, as well as two smaller rooms on the floor below which are the general (permanent?) exhibition. There was a wide variety of work and many pieces I enjoyed seeing.

There's a cafe (which we didn't visit) and also a small shop, although it mostly sold generic products related to famous artists; it would have been good to get some cards/prints relevant to the exhibition.

Thank occhiolist
