The hotel itself needs a good facelift. Old worn out carpets and rooms showing wear and tear. The japanese style rooms are a good size but the futons and bedcovers are quite ugly. The bathrooms are not much either. The onsen on the other hand is not too bad. But i wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone.

The location of the hotel is fairly central- It is close to the mall, and the main square where the restaurants are. Our group of 12+ stayed here for three nights as part of a relaxing stop on our trip around Japan.
The hotel staff were all very friendly and let us leave our packs behind the front desk while we waited for check-in. They also let us do laundry at the hotel and gave great recommendations for what to do in the local surroundings.
This hotel has its own onsen (one for men and one for women), which are cleaned daily and very nice. The women's onsen two pools - one inside and one outside. The inside pool has windows with a view of the city, is large and very clean. The outside pool is smaller ( fits maybe 7 women comfortably), but has a lovely view of the city below. The shampoo, conditioner and lotion provided are very nice.
We stayed in a traditional tatami room with six people and it was large enough to accomadate us all without feeling overcrowded. The hotel staff prepared the room for sleeping every night and cleaned up the futons every morning without feeling intrusive.

Our stay came with a free breakfast. It was okay. Most of the food was American style, with eggs, sausage, bread, etc. Not great, but decent.

Our stay with four friends for 2 nights was good. They a modest onsen at the hotel for $3. So relaxing. Staff is very helpful and good service. The rooms were comfortable and very clean. If you want a view of the ocean be prepared to sleep on the floor!!! Best sleep. Japanese style room that was adequately spacious. The front desk staff, a young man was so helpful with his limited English to call restrauants for us to dine. Dining area spacious and there is fresh fruits, coffee is good, and food is good.

This hotel is centrally located and within 10 min walk of JR station. There is a laundromat located 10 mins walk across from main department store. Mamoru (front desk staff) went out of his way to get latest details on trips around Beppu, and to update on the Asoboy train which was not running due to earthquake damage from a few months ago. We took a Japanese Style room and found the experience comfortable and interesting. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes a mid-range hotel in Beppu.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with bay view

Love this place so much even miss the train that I've booked. My room type is japanese traditional that comfort and cozy and I can see harbor from our window. There is onsen on roof top. Do not miss it!!!! You will get double relax from onsen and seaside panorama view from your window. The department store is not far from here also. For breakfast is great! It japanese breakfast buffet, although not many type of food but delicious. Especiallly onsen egg and curry. I will stay again in next year.

Warning: It quit far from Beppu station for who don't like exercise. But we are sport family. It's fine after you see habor infront of hotel.
