We stayed at the Dormy Inn Kagoshima for two nights and their location is in the middle between the train station and the harbour. Even though our room was at the end of the floor and next to the noisy air-condition-system in the room it was really quiet – and it had a nice view to the ferry wheel. Also the Onsen at the top floor is with a sauna and cold water pool really nice. In addition they have washing machines for free and only the dryer charges ¥ 100 for 20 minutes.

While they have two elevators in the evening you really need to wait for a long time and the stairs can't be used (except for emergency) which was rather odd and inconvenient if you only want to go one floor up to the Onsen. In addition the free ramen in the evening is unfortunately not suitable for vegetarian, vegans or religious people as they use a pork soup. I thought this was rather sad, especially as they had not a simple vegetable stew (powder would have been enough) for the guests described above – which are over the year at least 5-10 % of all guests. In addition the shower in the room has a large mirror inside which was not cleaned at all – it was full of dried water drops and even though we did only use the showers at the Onsen it still was not really nice.

It offers the best: excellent location very near Temonkan street, near airport bus stop, great price, room clean with everything you need, bed very comfy to me not too soft not too hard, staff nice, breakfast fabulous with many varieties, free indoor and outdoor onsen.

So, it sounds perfect right ? Yes, it should be. I may not go back however just because the guests were nearly all from Hong Kong as I, and this made me felt I was still in my home town not on holiday abroad ! No exotic feeling. It's nothing the fault of this inn though.

Apart from this personal element of me, this is an excellent accommodation objectively.

I recommend this inn if your okay sleeping in small small small room. Other than that it's a great location great inn. Staff really tries to help western people they really do but English is very poor. I would go back.

An other great Dormy Inn. Small rooms as usual but great new hotel. Great public bath on the top level inclusive of Sauna. Super good breakfast with good choice of japanese and western food. Location is right in the middle between train station and shopping area.
