Highly recommend the pork chop 100g and prime pork chop 75g set. Specially prime tasted great! All menus come with condiments including rice, miso soup, little soft tofu and pickles.

Staff is nice and waiting line was not too bad during lunch time.

We were just walking by with hungry kids and ended up in this place. Seeing that we had 4 adults and 4 kids they lead us to the tatami room.
The food was very quick and delicious. The kids were all given toys and ice cream with their meals.

The food is really good and the so is the service. The prices are also very reasonable, making it a very good restaurant for the money.

It was a cold wet day in Nara and having two very cold and hungry children and five cold and hungry adults we came upon Tonkatsu Ganko as our first choice was undergoing renovations so it was Japanese again.

The crumbing on both the pork, chicken and shrimp was lovely and crisp and not overly greasy as it can be. The fresh silken tofu was lovely, the potato salad lovely and the miso soup a little average. The shredded cabbage could be dressed with two types of dressing to your taste and two sauces available to eat with your crumbed meat. Two of us chose the Katsuya with fried vegetables in a black vinegar sauce - it was. Lovely sour slightly sweet sauce and delicious with the deep fried pork. Pickles were also on the table to have as little or as much as you wanted as was the jug of tea. Alcohol so available.

Would I recommend, yes, as the foid was delicious, the service is friendly, children welcome and we were in one of their traditional Japanese room that overlooked a small internal garden - very atmospheric.

Although the main dish is deep fried pork chop, they do serve crab and prawn fried as well. Take the combination to have additional taste of an oyster seafood flavor.
