This chain of curry shops are lifesavers for those with coeliacs disease (gluten allergy). They have an allergy-free curry that is wheat free and whilst they do not stipulate it as gluten free, my wife (who has coeliacs) ate the allergy-free curry twice without any reaction. Cocos were in every city we visited, often with dozens of outlets. Each outlet has English menus and in the menu is the allergy-free curry. It is a bargain (around 400 yen). Get the larger size and you will receive a serve of white rice and two pouches of Japanese-style curry, which contain essentially vegetables and curry sauce. The Himeji outlet is in a basement food court to the right, as you exit Himeji station (walking towards the castle).
