I went there as it was close to the hotel that I stayed. Then I found out it was a good call when I enjoyed seeing art things. All the Lalique exhibits were exceptional, very high value! No doubt for people interest in art.

Good for a rainy day visit! We bought a combination ticket of Pola & Lalique museum for 2700 yen per adult. No child combination tickets are available. Beautiful pieces of Lalique glasswork displayed, including doors and wall panels. Its not a big museum, though. The grounds are great for a lovely walk. Had lunch at Lys restaurant, which isn't cheap, but had nice food. The lobster main cost around 2600 yen. Skip the soup however. Go for the cheesecake, its the Lys restaurant specialty.

Take an advantage on two-museum-discount tickets @ hakone. I paid ¥2,200 for Lalique and little prince museum (¥500 discount from the normal price.)
There are tickets with different combination.
Be aware; not all one-day transport tickets work out well.

If you enjoy things Arts Nouveau then you will love this place. It is easy to get to in the middle of the village, but nestled back away from the street and surrounded by Japanese gardens and ponds - and even a resident heron. The Lalique collection was stunning - and not just the usual collection of a couple of dozen brooches but many large and ornate pieces too. Doors, windows, bowls, statues, hood ornaments ... you name it. Well worth the visit. And the cheesecake in the cafe was to die for.

Although there wasn't much English information, it has inspired me to find out more about the life of Lalique and the glassworks processes he and his contemporary used. All the exhibits were sensitively lit to show off the exquisite craftsmanship. At the entrance we were offered to select a Japanese fortune card. Cards are to be kept as a souvenir and (loosely) relate to a picture of an exhibited piece. The fortunes are only written in Japanese but the welcoming receptionist referred to the translation in a book.

Some of the exhibits are in situ such as the light fittings, window and door panels. There is a delightful room overlooking an attractive garden with a view of the mountains. You can catch a glimpse of Le Train from the gardens. The building itself is quite incredible containing huge pieces of wood- almost whole trees- acting as exhibition cases.

Good value, a small discount is offered with the Hakone Free Pass. Very enjoyable.
