The hotel is a five minute walk from the station and conveniently located near most of the activity. The rate for the double room was good and reasonably furnished and clean. The downside was the double bed which was just 120cm wide! We may have missed that detail when booking online, if so our fault. The room could comfortably taken a bigger bed. Breakfast had a reasonable choice and was keenly priced at 680 yen. Reception staff were most helpful, obliging and friendly.

It's only a 5 mins walk from the Matsumoto Station and that's a plus. The Hotel is clean and modern. Rooms are well laid out. Service is very helpful. Around you there's lots of eateries. Matsumoto Castle is a 20 mins walk away, one of the key sites here. The other you have to take a 30 mins train journey follow up by a 10 mins taxi to the Daio Wasabi Farm, its 100 years old and the largest in Japan. Have a stroll and have lunch.

This hotel is very convenient for both the bus and train stations. It is clean and comfortable apart from the pillow, which was absolutely dreadful. I had a single room and this provided sufficient space for one night. The staff are friendly and helpful.

I stayed at Hotel Morschein for one night enroute between Tsumago and Tokyo. This is a solid budget/mid-range hotel option in lovely and underrated Matsumoto. The hotel is minutes from the central train and bus stations, and a 10 minute walk from the wonderful Matsumoto Castle, making it a great option if you are using it as a stopover, or as a base to explore the surrounding areas.

The hotel itself is very clean and quiet. I was in a single room, which is small, but comfortable for one person. It has all the standard amenities and wifi is available in the rooms (they give you a portable router that you plug into the DSL line in your room). Staff are friendly and helpful.

There's a restaurant onsite and several dining options for every budget within a 5 minute walk.

A typical station hotel - close to the station, no-frills, yet clean and comfortable. The rooms are small but Western-style. The area is full of restaurants of every type. It is within easy walking distance of the castle and the Nakamachi historic shopping street.
