Got a great deal and decided to stay the night here. The decor of the entrance hall was beautiful. Service impeccable. They serve you coffee and biscuits while they check you in.

The room was large - with wider than normal single beds (twin room). My daughter loved the PJs they provided. My only gripe would be I got too hot. There is no control of the heat and the doonas are thick. I ended up opening the window slightly - at least you can open the window. The bed was firmer than I like and the bathroom had a slight smell of sewer.

The hotel is close to the castle. We visited during the day, at night and the next morning as well - it had just snowed. All so photogenic and different. If I had not stayed here I would have missed these different views.

We did not eat at the hotel - there is a great Soba restaurant just around the corner in the laneway.

We stayed in this hotel for one night as part of a road trip around central/northern Honshu. The hotel was easy to locate and is very close to Matsumoto Castle and within walking distance of Matsumoto Station.

We were given welcome drinks on check-in and the staff were incredibly kind and friendly, they also spoke very good English. We were offered the option to upgrade our room for 2000yen but declined this as we were on a budget. The man who checked us in insisted on carrying my suitcase at all times and also parked our car for us in the carpark which costs 540 yen per day.

Our room was large and quite classic and we could see the mountains out of the window. The room had all the amenities we needed and more, and as with all Japanese hotels was absolutely spotless. The bed was one of the comfiest I have ever slept in and we had a very good and long night's sleep.

There is an onsen at the hotel but we did not use this. We absolutely adored Matsumoto and if we ever return I would definitely choose to stay here.

All well water is used in water from this hotel.Water is soft for well water.
And the bath was also very good.Even Matsumoto-Castle is a nearby good place.

The hotel is close to the castle, Nawate Street and many restaurants. All which are in walking distance. The staff were extremely helpful and we even got upgraded to a better room. The rooms are pretty big by Japan standards and comfortable.

There is an onsen at the basement of the hotel but it is not fancy. I did find that the onsen water has a slight chlorinated smell. Otherwise, this hotel is highly recommended if you are planning to stay in Matsumoto.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights.
The hotel is situated very close to the castle and is close to numerous other tourist attractions.
Go to the Roof Top viewing point for a great night view of the Castle and wider Matsumoto.
As mentioned by other reviewers the layout of the hotel is rather quirky but has a good atmosphere with lots of folk art furniture. The hotel has two connected buildings which are accessed from different lifts.
There is an onsen located in the basement of one of the buildings
There is also a very attractive and comfortable residents lounge adjacent to the reception area which was good for people watching.
We found the staff to be very helpful with a reasonable understanding of English.
The rooms were a good size with a reasonable sized ensuite bathroom.
The rooms were very clean and had a comfortable bed and a large television.
The breakfast was good but not much choice of non Japanese food.
All in all an interesting hotel to stay in and if I co back to Matsumoto I would stay here again.
