It is one of the most famous and popular walking routes. Very long route and enjoyable. It can be challenging and adventurous though. You have to get prepared before starting with all the maps, gps and navigation, stay hydrated and use sun protection.

This is a wonderful walk that takes you along seldon walked paths that wind their way through pine forests and over hills, taking you back thousands of years in the process. In many places it is quite challenging and the path can be difficult to locate if you miss one of the marker rocks or stones, but it's a belter of a walk! Be warned though...it's not for the faint hearted, and you will need decent footware plus plenty of water to help you on your way.

We explored the Lycian Way as part of our trip to the waterfall. Good shoes are essential as some parts are tricksy. We did feel a bit like the dwarfs and Bilbo Baggins as we climbed up and ever upwards.

I have hiked around 60% of The Lycian Way. For any hiking enthusiast this route offers an unforgettable hiking experience. The route meanders through the Southwestern-most part of Turkey thrught coastal and mountainous landscapes, Many parts of the route follow the coastline closely offering breathtaking views over the Mediterranean Ocean. I have hiked with and without tent and it is relatively easy to plan the trip so you end each day near a small family driven pension/hotel where mama cooks dinner and makes breakfast for you the next morning. You will meet other hikers but not many, most of the time you have the route to yourself and you only meet other hikers at the end of the day. The route is relatively well waymarked but I strongly recommend bringing a gps devise or a gps app with the route because the landscape is constantly changing due to road renovations and it is never funny to be lost and spend hours searching for the next waymark. The route follows local trails that have been used for hundreds of years ... in fact you often meet "leftovers" from Roman times.
