The positives first. The pre sales and customer service is excellent and they answer all your queries when and after you book the tour. The beauty of the place, especially the lake will take your breath away and you would tend to ignore the negatives of the organiser here. Swimming in the lake was a great experience. Lights go off after 10 or 11 and you will have to share toilets and bathrooms situated far from the room.

The stay in the lake was really memorable as it is a beautiful location but the other place "Nature Resort" in Khao Sok was not really a good place to stay. The windows of the room did not have any mesh screen and so it was a choice between staying in a completely boxed room with closed doors and windows or have heavy duty DEET on yourself 24/7. Either of them is not comfortable.

As a wildlife and nature enthusiast I would like to know more about the place - fauna and flora of the region. I was really disappointed when I realised I know more than the local guides who claimed to have lived there for 18 years. They also spoke poor english which made communication very tricky.

IN: 15APR OUT: 20APR14 - 5 Nights Limestone Lake Rainforest Tours, What an absolute joy to have dealings with you. You organised our holiday staying in Treehouses and floating raft houses on Chieow Laan Lake, then some more time in Treehouses again. You organised our transfers and all our wonderful sightseeing plus giving us time to have at our leisure. You organised us guide/s where we needed it and you did all this with great communication, efficiency, thoroughness and ease. We are SO very glad we booked through you. Our memories will last us a lifetime. There was NOTHING that we did not LOVE - Sincerely thank you!

For me this is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. We did a lake and jungle tour which was just insane. On the jungle track we got to see some animals, among which the tarantula but also some monkeys, small spiders and red collared caterpillars. We than took a bamboo boat to a cave which was not very special but was nice to see. At the end before we went back we had a tasty lunch and got the possibility to swim. The view you have when taking the boat from and to the jungle is also insane and just makes your jaw drop.

We had a great time choosing the Jungle Magic tour with limestone lake tours! The instructor named PHO which is not the owner is very friendly and approachable answering any questions we had along the way. The lake is an amazing experience even though we had the same issue as some traveller who said there was a group talking loud until late hours no one could sleep much as it was 42 degrees (hot season April) so it didn't bother much! The wildlife spotting was good and at the caves you learn a lot of useful info and the place it self is a little sanctuary! The only downside of the tour was setting the whole program before we went. After choosing our tour with the full program description and before confirming everything, Phou (the owner) told us that the tour would be made in reverse order as it was the Thai holidays and the raft houses were fully booked. So having to start our tour the first day at the lake we noticed that the arrangement for the arrival night and transfer to the lake had to be arranged by us, which when you usually book a tour everything should be included or as you heading to less populated place certains info should be given which in our case only happened when we asked how we should get there! After discussing the issue with the owner she said that it's not mentioned on the program. We then had to pay for one extra night and vip transfer (otherwise we wouldn't arrive on time) and decided not to make a big fuss about it even though became more expensive then we thought overall.

We did the 4D3N Khao Sok Highlight Tour with limestone lake tours. We had mixed feelings about the tour. Overall, I would say it's a good experience and worth doing, but I would recommend that you book it yourself - it's really not that hard, just call the jungle lodge, unless you're willing to pay because you're too lazy to book it yourself. I learned my lesson this time.

We paid approx 650USD for the tour for 2. You could probably get it below or around 300USD for 2 people if you booked it yourself.
There's no pick up car service from anywhere so you have to get to the lodge yourself,, and ALL their activities are outsourced via the lodge. So basically all their doing is answering your email and calling the lodge to inform them of your arrival and your itinerary, and collecting over twice the amount for that.

If you stay at either of their jungle lodges, the jungle lodges provide the lake experience as well for a lower price, you can book once you're there, or call the lodges in advance if needed. We stayed at Art's Riverview Lodge. It's nice - we'd recommend it.
The rates for the jungles lodges are also pretty low. If I remember correctly (I heard the owner on the phone giving someone the rates, it's less than 50USD for 2 a night.)
Just skype call them.

About the trip:
Anyway, we stayed 2 nights at the jungle lodge, and 1 night at the floating bungalows.
We had a slight change in our itinerary at our request. Instead of elephant trekking (Say NO to elephant trekking - it's cruel, google it), we requested to bathe the elephant instead. After some back and forth, they obliged, but when we arrived, we found out that we would only be able to bathe it with a hose in a small area- we had expected maybe we would be taken to a nearby river to meet up with the elephant but when we arrive,d we were told it was too far or something, I can't remember. We went in the late afternoon, and if I remember correctly, we were scheduled then because it would be after the elephant came back from the rides.

The harness was left on the elephant - the whole point of us wanting to bathe the elephant was that we hoped it would not have to go on a ride with someone else while we bathed it, since we were paying to bathe it instead of ride it. I believe the ride takes about 45-60 mins. However, after about 15-20mins, we were told that we had to go because the elephant needed to go back to work. We were quite annoyed by this. We paid the same amount as all the riders but were given less than half the time, and the elephant was made to go back to work ASAP. Not cool.
By the way, all the animals were captured to do this. They might say they take care of the elephants well, give them plenty of food etc - but remember, they were captured JUST for this tourist activity from young, their moms probably killed (Adult elephants won't just sit back and watch you capture their young, you can sure they'll retaliate).

I understand businesses have to make money, but I was expecting to be charged at most 25-50% at most for the "convenience". Definitely not over 100% extra. This was not value for money and we left feeling quite ripped off.

You do not see a rep from their company except for when they came to collect the money from you at the lodge. The only time we saw Phou was for the elephant ride, and I think because we requested a "different experience" instead of the usual ride so she had to be there.
All that said, Phou was really nice when we met her, she also brought us to the monkey temple nearby afterwards, and the guides we had were all great, but again like I said - it's all outsourced so the guides are not affiliated with Limestone Lake Tours at all.
