“THE BEST SHAWARMA IN ISRAEL”
Review of Shawarma Bino

Shawarma Bino
Ranked #51 of 113 Restaurants in Jaffa
Price range: US$5 - US$10
Cuisines: Middle Eastern
Description: Bino, the legend from Jaffa, learned how to prepare Shawarma in the 60s. At the time, his father owned a Shawarma diner in which a dunargi (Shawarma expert) from Turkey named Galib worked and taught his son the secrets and the wonders of the trade. Almost fifty years have passed since and Bino, known as the King of Shakshuka, decided to return to his roots. The smell of Shawarma is constantly in his nose and blood, and luckily for us, he's decided to restore past glory and stop fighting what must have been predestined. Magically, just after he started preparing Shawarma, he met Galib, whom he hadn't seen for 40 years. The two are making the citizens of Jaffe and others, who refuse to give up on the pleasure of Shawarma, very happy. Soon, Bino will open a Shawarma diner in a nearby alley, which will be open all week. The meat: fresh veal and lamb covered with strips of lamb fat. The seasoning: onion, cardamom, and a mixture of very fine Turkish spices that leaves room for the real star- the meat. The stuffing: a divine eggplant salad, spicy sauce, tomato salad, and cabbage salad. The truth is that you don't need much. Bottom line: this is truly the best Shawarma I ever ate. The meat is sliced professionally, with the exact amount of meat and fat and the thickness is just right. Before you take the first bite the fragrance of meat plays havoc with your senses.

Excellent location close tot he Clock Tower in Jaffa, the advantage of Bino's shawarma is that he has both chicken and veal. The chicken is well liked by those who wish to have a lighter meal. Both types of meat are succulent, well spiced and very enjoyable, either on a plate or in a pita or lafa.

This is a hidden gem in the Yaffo market area that is worth seeking out if you want a tasty meal that you will want to come back for again and again. This was our 3rd visit this week and it is our go to place in Yaffo for lunch. The guys understand enough English for you to order and do not rip you off. You chose the bread type, pita with the top sliced off to make a pocket, a large thick pita to wrap the contents or a thinner version for the same. Order lamb or chicken and they will fill with salad tahini and hair (hot spice) if you want. My family just loves Sharwarma Bino and we make some excuse the shop nearby at the right time for lunch...gets busier when the sun goes down as this area is now very popular with the local hipsters and 20-30 somethings with great bars and nightlife. Highly recommended.

Thank Daniel S

Been here twice and it offers one of the best lamb shawarma's in Israel!
Large quantity and in addition excellent fries.
Nice atmosphere of the Jaffa flea market just round the corner. Don't miss if you are in the area!

Tasty, tasty, tasty. The lamb shawarma is a must-try. Don't forget to ask for some chips (fries) on the side.
