Fresh seafood was definitely served here as you got to select the range of items you wanted from the Kelong...
Food was also reasonably priced and affordable.
The view of the the first Barelang bridge and the sea breeze made the meal more enjoyable!

Not just is the food good, is cheap. We had a fish, a lobster, scallops, veggy and drinks, all for Rupiah810,000 (SG$81).

This place has sea view but only in the day. Also is advisable only to go in the day, while the drive is abt 40mins away from the city, in the nite the road has little or no lights. And the road leading to the restaurant is uphill and narrow without street lamp.

Our driver raved this kelong. We had to try it.

On our last day in Batam, we planned a visit to Barelang Bridge, seafood lunch and shopping.

We were done with the bridge in under 15 mins, so we proceeded to lunch at this kelong. We gave ourselves an hour before proceeding to shopping at BCS.

We arrived at the kelong. We were awed. We were actually on a real kelong (albeit no fishing), with floating quarters on stilts. We walked on uneven planks sloping down to the dining areas and catchment with wooden railings. The view was spellbounding.

Then at the end was the catchment area with square holes with nets in the water keeping prawns, fishes, crayfish, a big fish (not for sale) with a giant turtle and more. It took us about half an hour to explore the kelong, walking in between the netted cages, before we decided we should sit down and order our food. We sat down on a table overseeing the catchment area.

As soon as the order was placed, we saw the staff proceeded with pails to the catchment area to net out our order - prawns, crayfish, mussels, pomfrets. They then proceeded straight to the kitchen in one of the kelong houses.

The food came in a flurry. We polished them in a minute. They were simply fresh and delicious. The fish, prawns and crayfish were not huge and not of a consistent size, but they were well cooked and retains their natural sweetness. We had to have a second serving of the butter crayfish! We overstayed, we gladly gave up our shopping plans to feast on another plate of crayfish and enjoy the scenery.

The bill arrived. Total was not more than Rp 1,300,000. There were 11 of us adults. We had 2 steam pomfrets, prawns, sotong, 2 servings of crayfsh, 1 kangkong belachan, mussels, coconuts, soft drinks and free flow of white rice.

Food aside, the kelong is well kept. It is very very clean, and it does not smell of rubbish and diesel oil. They have running water from taps strategically positioned at corners so that we can wash our hands. Their toilets are very clean but you need to bring your own toilet papers and flush with a pail.

The place is a bit out of the way. But it is a real good place after Barelang Bridge and i strongly suggest visiting it during the day.

off the beaten track, literally. But well worth the long car ride out for lunch. the ambience is best described as "rustic". be warned the toilet facilities are primitive. I'd didn't want to write a review because I wanted to keep this a best kept secret for my friends and family! 11 of us paid an average of $20+ for crabs, scallops, prawns, crayfish, sea snails, chicken and 3 sorts of veg. Not forgetting fresh coconuts all round.

We were brought by the local driver Mr Apo to this restaurant nearby the Barelang Bridge.

All the seafood are catch from the kelong which it are kep alive. It has quite a variety of seafood and the price is reasonable.

I personally think it is cheaper than Weywey and it is very fresh too.
7 of us and it only cost Idr745000 with the order of fish, crayfish, gonggong, crabs and vegetable.

Will go back again next time.
