Owner description: Threads of Life is a fair trade business that uses culture and conservation to alleviate poverty in rural Indonesia. The heirloom-quality textiles and baskets we commission are made with local materials and natural dyes. With the proceeds from the Threads of Life gallery, we help weavers to form independent cooperatives and to manage their resources sustainably.

It was a wonderful experience. It was so interesting to learn what this foundation is doing to keep traditions alive and so much more. The dying process we learned about was fascinating! We all made beautiful batik pieces. The setting was peaceful. The lunch was one of the best meals I’ve had in Ubud. I would love to do a week course.

I bought several sarongs and scarves during my last two trips, Definitely going back for more next October. The textiles of unique patterns are made with love. You can never have enough of them.

Nice shop, good intention, but a bit more variety in price and products would be nice. I wanted to buy something but in the end didn't because I simply couldn't find anything I really liked.

Threads of Life is definitely the place to go in Ubud if you like high quality fabrics and textiles. Enjoy the beautiful store which showcases woven items from the many and varied islands of Indonesia. Chat to the kind staff about the textiles, who are both informative and helpful (they will tell you about the person who created each item). This place is unmissable and I will certainly return to buy more high quality items in the future. Thank you for a great experience, Threads if Life!

Beautiful textiles ! The store is a little off the main path but well worth the trip. This is not a souvenir shop with mass produced textiles. These are true artists and the quality of the work reflects that. Expect to pay for quality. A variety of shops of various quality line the street to appeal to all price points.
Loved it !
