“The Escape” – suites perfect to the destination as caption. This is calm going and pollution free silent place. Perfect location for the “Busy” people to do NOTHING. A perfect and close gate way from Bengaluru as well as Chennai. This place is situated around 28 KM off NH48. From Chennai take NH48 towards Krishnagiri and take service road from Maduranada Nagar. Keep the same road and it will lead to Yelagiri. From Bangalore take NH44 till Krishnagir and then take Chennai highway NH48 and then same rout from Maduranada Nagar. Maduranada Nagar to Yelagiri is bumpy and rough ride. At point you will feel lost, but continue and then its preety good ride till hilltop.
There are around 14 sharp hairpin kind of turns but as roads are very good it is nice drive experience. At times the road might be Jam in case there are two big vehicals (Like truck and Bus) are passing. Once it is cleared it hardly takes 10 to 15 min to hill top.
Ptssss: try reaching 1 hr before checkin time and try leaving 1 hr before checkout time to avoid the Jam’s !!
FOOD & Stay:
There are plenty of resorts / hotels / homestays to choose from and most of them offers good food. There are very few restaurants and most of them are there on the main road.
To Do / See:
1. Yelagiri Lake:
This is man made lake on the hill top and most of the tourist will be at lakeside in evening time. There are few shops on the entrance road of the lake. Shops includes the most common tourist shops with some gift articles and xyz. There are few eateries on same road and to my surprise most of them offer 2 or 3 varieties of Fish and available in fried form with good margination. Same is the case in Lake Canteen (Please see pics).
There is Boat house inside lake and is open till 6 PM everyday. One can have calm and pleasant morning / evening walk alongside the lake.
2. Yelagiri Nature Park: This place is exactly inform of the Lake Entrance. Well maintained garden with some kids play area, Musical Fountain (check timings) and small aquarium.
3. Temples around Yelagiri: There are many old Temples in and around Yelagiri and nearby small villages.
Over all this is quiet place and nothing much to do but your chosen resort may offer variety of services and fun activities.
Also Do remember…. If you are booze freak.. carry your own stuff… only one TASMAC shop on Lake road so not much of choice. Also check with your hotel if they have operational BAR.
