Very warm hospitality. In just few minutes of our arrival, I was chatting with on of their guys like close friends. And their Keralite dishes are to die for.
We ordered two items; one was prawn biryani and other was swordfish cooked in coconut leaf, can’t recall the name. That stuff was other worldly, I had never tasted anything like that. A visit to Varkala beach is incomplete without a meal here

This place is quite nice. Food was quite good. The service was little slow however we didn't mind waiting as the view from the restuarant was beautiful. They serve nice cocktails and mocktails. We tried different variations of fish and all of they were quite good. Will recommend this place.

Man Utd played Chelsea. They showed the game. Some basic fella with dreadlocks and a Chelsea shirt was annoyed Chelsea lost. Great place.

We had already been here for a meal, but decided to head to GOCK for a drink as we were spending our last night in Varkala exploring the north cliff. As previously, the atmosphere was great - no live music but the vibe was again very chilled. We were used as bait (I think) and placed in the front of the cafe near the entrance to entice other tourists in, but the staff were very entertaining and hospitable which negated this, and we did have a pretty spectacular view of the bay.

This place is the shining star of marketing on the south side of the cliff. Beautifully displayed fresh catch about 10 times the price of the local market and 2-3 times more expensive than the neighboring restos. Food is not bad at all but just as fresh as the others. Marketing does it all luring people into this place. At the time of the visit they had limited local choices of wine and beer and to our bad luck we got to “enjoy” a dreadful Grover Sauvignon Blanc which should be better labeled as “Tasteless headache vinaigrette in a bottle”
It’s obviously not the fault of the recommending staff that this was the only availabile thing but at the end of the night I cannot justify paying the same price I pay in more expensive touristic destinations for a sub-mediocre dining experience!
