This is a government museum present within the Mubarak Mandi Palace which was residence of Dogra rulers. The Basohli miniature paintings are the most fascinating exhibit here. The handwritten biography of Lodhi Kings - Sikander Nama and Shah Nama is kept here. Ancient coins,terracota/bronze/stone sculptures, weapons, antique bow and arrows etc. are kept on display here.

Located in the Pink Hall of Mubarak Mandi Palace Complex showcasing different paintings, artifacts, manuscripts, sculptures, dresses, weapons and several other items of historical and cultural significance. This museum is the perfect place for you if you want to experience the folklore and culture of Jammu (specially) along with kashmir and laddakh.

Also called the Ajaib Ghar which is Museum in Urdu, the museum has a collection of over 8000 objects of historical & cultural value. Was fortunate to visit this unique museum last Friday and was thrilled to see the Rasmanjari series of the famed Pahari Basohli miniature paintings. The museum is known for these wonderful paintings. There were also the rare manuscripts of the Shahnama and Sikandernama in Persian on display. The museum houses terracotta heads from Akhnoor, Dogra costumes, jewellery, arms and personal armour. I was impressed with the intricately decorated marble jharokhas inlaid with semi precious stones. Shah Jahan's golden bow is also a prized exhibit. A must visit if you an art freak and are visiting Jammu.
