This hotel was extreme value for money. For 2400rs we got 2 rooms with a private balcony where we did bonfire everynight and hotel management had no issues.

We were given room heater for no charge and the snowfall in the evening was cherry on the cake.

Keep a car with you if you want to go to any place in manali.

Snow capped mountains make a delightfull View from the rooms.

Do not order anything other than Indian Cuisine in the hotel. Only Indian food is good rest all are below par.

This was a friends trip with budget in mind and this hotel fit the bill perfectly.

The name Chandermukhi Cottages had me imagining cosy little houses surrounded by apple orchards and hills.

Well there are no cottages here. It is a big 3 storey characterless building.

However, the rooms are nice, you have fantastic views of snow-capped mountains from the views and there are indeed apple orchards all around.

It’s not easy getting a hotel room in Manali. Especially if you are booking through the net and it’s the start of the holiday season when all kids and by extension parents in India get their annual summer vacation. Still, after a lot of trying and diligent searching over the internet, we found Chandermukhi Cottages through a travel web site. The driver I had hired tried hard to convince us to change our room and check into Shivalik Lodge instead – I presume they would have given him some commission if he succeeded. But, he was disappointed as it turned out that Chandermukhi cottages is part of the Shivalik Group. They had recently acquired it - so no commission for him.

The rooms were ok. But the facilities are in need of maintenance. The room in which I stayed produced chilly cold water from the hot water tap and scalding hot water from the tap labeled cold water. There was a tub and a shower (not a power shower), but no shower curtain and no toilet paper. The room service was a bit slow. The food was quite nice. But the guy did take forever to bring it. I think he probably goes to the main Shivalik hotel to get the food. The menus and cutlery in the hotel have the Shivalik logo.

The hotel is a bit away from the Mall Road. So, you need a car to get around. You could possibly walk. But if you are a stranger, its best to stick to your hired car. All the tourist locations like Solang Valley, Rohtang and local attractions like the Mall Road and Hadimba temple are nearby.
If you don’t feel like going anywhere, you can relax on the broken swing outside your room and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.

All in all it was good value for money as the hotel was not too expensive. I would go again. But, I would check the water temperature very carefully and not trust the hot and cold water labels.

Room Tip: Beautiful views, good value for money.Need repair
