Once again my faith in TripAdvisor had fully paid off as from start to finish in this accommodation we were very, very impressed. There isn’t one thing about this place which disappoints.
Goa, for those who don’t know is a mad concoction of tourists, tradition and tut tuts. Out on the street, you are constantly under audible attack from the incessant stream of cars, busses and mopeds and it would seem, if they don’t sound their horns every 10ft, might receive a penalty notice for not driving without due noise.
Albequerque villas, although having their office on the main road, provides a surprisingly quiet oasis amidst the cacophony of noise which is candolim. Villas are arranged backing away from the main road, in our accommodation, which was in the last but one building from the rear, road noise was imperceptible. I would imagine only the family villas to the front, referred to on their website as the original Albequerque family residence, adjacent to the pool area suffer from any road noise.
Our room, a superior double suite, was perfect. Spotlessly clean and kept that way throughout. Cleaning was daily, linens and towels every two days. Furthermore, beach and pool towels were provided, these only needed collecting from reception. Their website states they initially provide water, but then you buy your own, but actually, water is in constant free supply from reception. We had two air conditioning units in our apartment which worked very efficiently to keep the whole apartment cool. We had a balcony from which to enjoy the gardens which are immaculate around the property. Pool area is well equipped with comfortable beds and plenty of umbrellas if you prefer the shade. The beach is found by a 5 minute walk directly over the road.
Breakfast is simple served between 8 and 9:45, and is more than adequate. Simply fill in your order form each morning and your food is cooked to order and brought to your table. More than enough choice for all with fruit juices, coffees and teas, cereal, toast, fruit cocktail, omelettes as well as the simple choice of a cooked breakfast.
The proprietors were extremely friendly and helpful. We had friends staying at two other locally renowned hotels and both had serious cause for complaint during their stays. My advice if you prefer large hotels is to try this place and you will be pleasantly surprised.

AHV is an oasis of calm and quiet in the chaos that is Candolim. Many thanks to Jala, Tony and the rest of the staff for making our 4 week stay a very good experience. if only other hotels were staffed by such friendly people.
Next year's holiday is booked already.

Room Tip: You may need earplugs to block out some pretty awful karaoke from other hotels.

This budget apart hotel could not be better. comfortable rooms with satellite TV, microwave, and fridge. Pretty shower rooms, balconies, beautifully kept gardens and everywhere incredibly CLEAN. It is a quiet haven in the middleof a very busy area, with everything you need in walking distance
