We had a sea view room, also overlooking a well appointed pool, with A/C and free parking. Our room was very basic and quite small but on the surface was made up well. The staff were very friendly and checked we had received our complimentary tea, creamer and soap shortly after we checked in. There is an option to purchase breakfast but no information was readily available about how much it cost or when it was offered from.
It was our first time to Fiji so I'm taking that into account. And, the rate at the Seabreeze was about half that of a nearby resort's king room so it's obvious to expect different levels of amenities and quality.
The Seabreeze is located at the end of a short narrow laneway. We had a heck of a time finding it. The best feature at this hotel is its pool.
The room itself was very small and basic. There were two double beds, a suitcase shelf and an aged, scarred table. The A/C worked well but was far from quiet, we didn't leave the windows open as fly screens were damaged and mosquitos love me for a buffet. There was one power point that we could use and it was not near a mirror so doing my hair in the morning was interesting. The bedding was stained, ripped and burnt.
The bathroom had a toilet, shower and shelf/mirror. Ours showed evidence of mould and water damage. The shower flow could best be described as random as water went in any old direction but hot and cold water both worked.
I didn't see any cockroaches anywhere in the hotel. The comment about roaches made in another review isn't entirely fair as roaches are part of the environment in subtropical areas including those in Australia so you will always have some about even in the tidiest of establishments.
We had a short stay at the Seabreeze...it wasn't really was we had expected. I think there may be a different interpretation of "budget" between how this hotel markets itself and how I think of it. To me, the Seabreeze is a self contained backpacker lodge, providing secure four walls, a roof and an ensuite and is budget accommodation as in costs less than staying in a resort. But I think they may be genuinely trying to target travellers wanting a value for money experience.
All in all, we had a relatively decent night sleep, didn't have any problems with street noise and didn't have any problems checking out with cutting our stay short. The staff were all exceptionally pleasant and this accommodation block would be a huge challenge to run as a hotel anywhere, never mind in Fiji where it is expensive to make improvements because everything is shipped in.
