Martinica is an amazing restaurant. After my fishing tour Martinica was the ideal place for having dinner. The food is amazing and the place itself is comfortable. I have to go back again to Manta.

Came here for lunch as Tripadvisor lists it as # 1in Manta out of 25 eateries in town. The restaurant has two levels. We chose upstairs, but there isn’t really a nice view; just lighter. The downstairs looked too dark. The décor is of bright colors. There are many small posters in French. Edith Piaf sang a few songs in the background. The owners are from Quito, not French, as we thought. The staff could not explain to us the name and the French décor relation. We were there early and service was fast. Once they got busy, Ivan our waiter, was not seen too often. We poured our own wine. No one came to our table to ask if all OK; only to take plates away. Food came out fairly quick, but they were cold items. My ceviche had a mustard twist and contained a lot of liquid. It was served more like a cold seafood stew than the conventional ceviche. The tartness took away from the seafood flavors. The octopus ceviche was very tender. Both portions were big. The grilled tuna was excellent; well cooked. It was served with fried green plantains and cold salad. The restaurant does not offer Wi-Fi service for patrons, we were told. After lunch, we were not asked if wanted coffee and/or desert. I sent message to our waiter to get us an espresso and the check. This took a while. They were kind to get us a taxi to return to Manta Port, back to our ship. Prices compared to our country are reasonable. Compared to other places in Manta, they are higher. Food and service did not justify it. We would not make an effort to go there for lunch. Maybe if they offer a different dinner menu… just to compare.

Such an excellent restaurant. I started with Ceviche made in a peanut sauce... the best I have ever eaten. Our main course was fresh caught fish. The wine was very good and very well priced. Don't miss this restaurant if visiting Manta.
