My wife and I recently visited this garden and thoroughly enjoyed the buildings, ponds, trees, and flowers. A tour guide is a must to fully appreciate all the history and significance of each area in the garden. Get there early in the day as the garden becomes quite crowded.

Well worth a visit!

Came here because of its UNESCO status. It’s obviously a popular place because of the crowds & the shops. Entrance fee is more expensive (90 RMB). I love the landscape with very pretty peonies, peach blossom trees, bonsai, wisteria, & shrubbery. It’s like a maze with many paths. Enjoyed it. This is a must see, for sure.

These gardens are nothing like I expected. Rocks, bridges and water play a very big part as do viewing places. I was surprised that all the cities I visited had amazing three dimensional public gardens with all the blossoms coming out late March and brilliant planting designs with clever colour and shape but these are traditional and ancient gardens originally owned by very wealthy families. They are also amazing but different. You really need a guide to understand what you are looking at We had Julia from TCT and she had excellent knowledge and fluent English. You need about two hours to see it all as it is very large and there are fun rock mazes for young children.

Very nice watergarden, much bigger than expected and enormous amounts of tourists on a Sunday with nice weather.
Try to avoid the weekends and enjoy the scenery.

Get here early. I arrived just before 7.30am on a Saturday morning and got a ticket and was one of the first through the doors. This meant that you can see the garden in relative peace and quiet and get photos without a million other people. By 9am there were groups coming through. It's a pretty garden, not huge and it took me just over an hour to wander through at a leisurely stroll. It's very close to the Lion Forest Garden although by the time you get there if you do this first there will be a heap of people there! Enjoy
