This is a nice museum. Go with time to explore and wear comfortable shoes. Unfortunately, when we visited only two sections were open. Check the schedules before you go.

Was a bit disappointed that the museum main hall was closed for renovation, there was a temporary display hall at the left hand after the entrance. The few flagship artefacts were not on display.

We were disappointed when we arrived at the museum, as it was closed for redecoration, but the annex to the main building had some interesting displays. My interest is mainly in the Neolithic period and it was uncanny how the stone tools were so similar to the ones found in Europe and UK.
I wouldn't have thought there would be any communication of toolmaking ski;ls between China and Europe, but maybe the necessity for using them suggested the best way they could be shaped.
The bronze age weapon exhibits were also similar, but ornaments and cooking vessels far more advanced and ornate.
Quite an interesting visit in spite of the initial disappointment and free entry. Pity the Chinese don't maximise on their resources, by providing a tea room or cafeteria.

To see, in person, a gigantic Porcelain Dollhouse, almost six feet high, made in the 1300's, is awesome.. There are many large Porcelain Dollhouses on the one floor..
Zhengzhou is noted as the birthplace of Porcelain.., and, this Museum has some of the finest examples of Porcelain, all the way back to pre-Christ times.. Fantastic firings of old and new Porcelains..
Worth the trip to Zhengzhou alone, but, many Museums are first rate here.. At least nothing is thieved from other civilizations like the Western ones...
