The visit to Volga Manor was part of our 8 day tour to Harbin.
It was a nice place for some photography. Very quiet town. Nothing much except a short walk to explore the village and Russian culture. A day trip is sufficient to cover this place and i would say not more than 1 night stay is needed.

Lunch was provided, and inside volga. As expected, its a tummy filler type of buffet. There is not much choice for lunch elsewhere though. We tried their tube slide which was nice, and the horse drawn carriage, which I liked but felt like a tourist trap. We also did the ski mobile, which turned out to be someone driving the mobile with lots of ski carriage at the back in a train setup. This was not worth it. Not only do you not enjoy it because of the cold wind snapping at your face, you do not get to appreciate the view or the ride because you need to tuck your head in to hide yourself from all the snow and ice that is thrown at you by the snow mobile.

Some houses are open, some were not. This according to our tour guide, which was not very accomodating and friendly, by the way.

If you want to see what a Russian town looks like this is the place to go. The inside to the buildings are wonderful, especially the church building and the main palace. Great to see in Winter with the river frozen and you must go on the toboggan ride.

If You Are In Harbin Then This Place Must Be On Ur List. It’s An Old But Well Maintained Russian Structures With Ski (For 1hr)And Donut Ride(One Time Only) All For 150RMB. It’s Easily Accessible By Public Transport. One Can Take 68 Bus( Opp Of Capital Mall, 2RMB)N Get Down After 28 Stops And From The Same Bus Stop U Can Get 603( Get Off After 9 Stops, 4RMB) Once You Get Down,Volga Manor Is 4KM Frm The Bus Stop. One Can Either Choose To Go Walking Or Hire Private Car, Which Are Available At The Bus Stop( 10RMB/PP). One Should Start Their Trip Little Early Morning Around 8, As It Takes 2 Hours Appx By Public Transport And 603 Bus Last Bus Is At 5 O’clock. You Need at least 3 Hours To Explore The Place. Whole Place Is Covered With Snow (In Winter) And It’s Looks Amazing. I Hv No Idea Abt Summer Bt In Winter, This Is Must Go Place.

First, definitely come with a tour or hire a taxi for the day. It’s in the outer part of the city, over an hour away from city center. It would be hard to get a cab back if you didn’t have the cab driver wait for you there. You can negotiate the price for the day. Depending on where you want to go.

The buildings are all restored, it was truly interesting to see. The Nicholas church was completely rebuild in mid to late 2000’s. But it was still very beautiful to see.

You can also go around the park on a little shuttle thing. They also offer horse sleds.

The restaurants are very expensive comparatively. It costed me around 180RMB for lunch with a beer. Beer normally in the city is about 8-10RMB, here it was 20RMB. Also if you order beer, make sure to ask for cold beer. Or you will get room temperature beer.. which isn’t as enjoyable.

The best part was this castle thing. You can ski out of it, or sled down on a tube. It’s 5 story high and then down a hill. It’s quite fun! And great for kids! It was the best 10RMB I’ve spend on the trip!

So I would say this is not a complete tourist trap.. there is some interesting aspect that’s worth a visit. But I wouldn’t say this is a must see.
