The Asia Gulf is an adequate hotel. It is older and the rooms show its age.
As an American business traveler, I can say that the hotel is not targeted to the Western traveler. The front desk personnel do not speak much English. There are no Western television channels (if that matters to you). The beds are hard (typical in China).
The grounds of the hotel are nice. As others have mentioned, the beach is a short walk from the main hotel building and is good for a nice stroll. There is a large pool. The villas give some sense of separation and the rooms in them seem to be similar to the rooms in the main hotel.
Breakfast is so-so (even according to my Chinese colleagues).
If you are looking for a comfortable hotel up to normal Western standards, this barely passes. If you need a budget option for a Chinese company event (as we did), it will be fine.More
