We had a wonderful vacation at Model Angkor. Making our stay great was Ms Sambo, Mr. phanun and Ms. Solai. They are wonderful professionals. Mr. Say the resort ambassador made sure everything was just perfect. My 11 year old son had a great time and the staff made him never want to leave. We loved the setting for breakfast surrounded by fish my son loved to feed.

Room tip: Our room was awesome and the Tuk Tuk took us all over the city.

We had a 3 night stay at Model Angkor and we enjoyed it very much. All staff were very accommodating, especially Vannak who took great care of us during our stay. We arrived early on our first day and were soon checked into a spacious room (plenty room to spread our stuff around, yay!) Vannak was so friendly and helpful, showing us around the hotel, giving us lots of advice and tips, and even helping us arrange a tuk-tuk driver to take us see sunrise at the last day of our trip.

Moreover, we loved the breakfast buffet very much. All kinds of bread, fruits and freshly-made eggs in whatever way you like, were tasty. And we enjoyed the taste of the freshly-brewed coffee too. We heard that dinner here is good too, but pity that we had no time to try it.

We had a little problem with the shower as the shower head hanging at the ceiling was quite high and unreachable. The scattered water drops were sometimes not hot enough for us.

Again, everyone of Model Angkor, from the airport pickup to the catering staff, and all the way from our arrival till our departure, was very kind and helpful. We loved them all and would never forget their genuine smiles.

We spent 3 nights in this rather niche Cambodian-style hotel. The staff were absolutely charming, friendly and courteous at all times. Their smiling faces were a joy to behold ! Sopi (not sure about the spelling) even managed to find me a Sports Bar In Siem Reap, which showed the Scotland v England rugby match!!
Our room was enormous but the layout could have been better e.g. huge shower area, but very little storage space.
Overall a very enjoyable experience and good value for money.

... be careful in getting what you book.
We want to state - we have enjoyed our stay and kids loved the pool, but the start was quite unfortunate. And we have shared all this with the Mgmt of the hotel, as well.

We don’t like to be cheated especially when we arrive very late from the airport and just want to go to bed. We just do not understand the need of cheating on people. We have quite some experience of similar kind (in Asia they try to put 2 kids into one bed even when you request 2 beds/large double bed) so we watch out in these countries and want others to be careful.
Here we were given a normal double room with an extra bed with the statement that this is the room we have booked - we have booked Family Suite for 4 with the difference of over 60$ per night. We have discussed with the receptionist upon arrival but he would repeat his version.
We have called the manager and then they finally admitted that this room wasn’t ours - the room we have booked was given to somebody else. On the next day we got the Suite but it was clear they hoped on us keeping the normal room. We were not the first people they tried this game with.
At the end of our stay they wanted to charge us for all nights the suite price what we did not want to accept- you should pay what you get. Apologies don’t help.
After several discussions we have reached an agreement of some kind but we just think IT IS A PITY! Nice hotel, nice stuff, good food... where is the need to annoy customers with this behavior. No need of this over holidays.

Very disappointing review to write. The main issue I had with this hotel was the cost. For two nights we paid exactly the same as we had done for two nights at the absolutely 5-star Borei Angkor, and after leaving Model Angkor, we subsequently paid less than half the price to stay in exactly the same kind of accommodation just down the road.

The reception area was outstanding, but the room was not nearly to the standard I would have expected for the cost.
It was basic, and the unfinished cement rendering just gave the impression that some nice furniture had been stuck inside a half-finished building. The shower room was dirty, the sill of the toilet covered in dead insects and gecko poop, the poor layout meant it was an inconvenience to go from the shower to the basin, and there was nowhere even to hang a towel, and a lot of the fixtures and fittings were loose.

There was a lot of noise from kids letting off firecrackers nearby, and building works going on next door (presumably to expand the hotel).

The staff were friendly and polite, but would do completely bizarre things like take away the ashtray from outside our room and not bring it back, but leave an empty cigarette packet that we had been having to use as an ashtray until they brought us one!

If the price of the room had been reasonable, I wouldn't have minded any of this in the least, because you should get what you pay for. However, my overwhelming feeling was that Model Angkor reflected the lower end of the huge variability of accommodation you can find in Siem Reap at a certain budget range.
As mentioned above, we found better accommodation just down the road for less than half the price.
Overall, it gave me the impression of paying a lot of money to stay in a place that was cheap, and that it was punching well below its weight.
And one word of caution; the mosquitos here are fierce!

Dear LeoAldopold,

Thank you for your reviews mixed of positive and negative experiences while you were staying at Model Angkor Resort.

At Model Angkor Resort, we always provide pleasurable hospitality for each of our valued guest and your given feedback is very important for us as it helps to improve the satisfactions for our future guests.

Please accept our sincere apologies on the room cleanliness and some of hiccups during your stay. We will ensure these matters will not happen again for our future guests.

I would like to stress about the price. As your stay was spontaneously over Chinese New Year in Feb 2018, it’s therefore the price higher than regular dates for each hotel in Siem Reap. This was high demand so the price went up as its nature.

Whereas the noise of firecrackers, It was kind of festive celebrations for Cambodian-Chinese neighborhood families during Chinese New Year so the firecracker noises were coming from elsewhere in Siem Reap. We couldn’t stop it.

Further to building works, it was 90% completed. There are still some minor works and we monitor to minimum noise during the day time only. It’s rarely having comments from our guests.

Once again, thank you very much for your feedback and I trust that we will have another chance to restore your confidence back in the near future.

Warmest regards,
