First, if you're flying-in take advantage of the school's $10 taxi, as you won't get a better deal at the airport. The location is about 5 minutes south of old town, on the east side of the river, so there is no noise from traffic and the atmosphere is truly relaxing.

Secondly, if you want to use the spa, reserve it as soon as you can because the spots fill up fast!

Students do not pay tuition, and are selected based on their family's economic status, hence the poorest get accepted. Agir pour le Cambodge helps those who need it most. Employed graduates (and they all get employed) are then able to help their families out of poverty.

The first thing that strikes you is how friendly and welcoming the students treat the guests. By the end of our stay we were putting our hands together and bowing back to them! It was fun to watch the students learn and apply lessons.

Although this facility is run by students, teachers are always available when needed. Students applied their lessons cleanly and carefully, for both the room and the restaurant. They serve breakfast and lunch, and both were great. I’ve never had a better fruit cup anywhere. It was ripe yet crisp and the dragon fruit was not a bit starchy! The lunch menu had western and local choices, and it gets changed every 2 weeks so the chefs can learn something new.

The manager made sure we were happy, and advised us on lesser known attractions, like the water-lily farm. The room also had information on attractions, such as the Phare Circus, and various workshops. These workshops were the most authentic I've seen, with room after room full of work benches with students learning their craft and teachers advising them.

The room had a can of mosquito spray, which we did not need the first 3 nights but did use the last night. Just use it as per instructions on the can - it worked. The suite is spacious, and employed an interesting use of concrete for the counter/desk and bathroom partitions. One night a light burnt out and I forgot to tell the front desk in the morning, but when we returned in the afternoon the light had been replaced. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The full suite and the junior suite above are in a separate building at the rear of the property. My stay was both quiet and private.

Enjoyed my stay at Sala Bai. Rustic and at a peaceful location, I could really unwind from the hustle and bustle. The rooms are simple but very comfortable. You could not ask for more. Plus staying here is also doing good. As you get to give the students the opportunity to practice their hospitality skills.

Stayed two nights here with the local students on learning the hospitality service. The kids are young but they are very enthusiastic in learning from you. Some speaks very good English but several still have challenges with their language.

We had a great experience staying here and thanks a lot to the students

We stayed one night at Sala Bai hotel school, this is a hospitality training hotel with six rooms that allow under privileged students gain practical experience. What a wonderful find! Just 1.7km from the center of night life, it feels like you are in the country. The rooms are chic and modern and very comfortable. They do not serve dinner here. The students are incredibly keen to do the right thing, and it is so heartwarming. This is a lovely place to support. There are no tv's and no pool.

Room Tip: Just be a little patient as the students are still learning English.

On our visit, we had to dine to the weather and high occupancy. Still a great place to be eating, with friendly and efficient service from the students and teachers of this (school-restaurant).

A great experience.

Room Tip: We went for dinner only.
