Thanks a lot for your nice comment. Benito.
Borann was one of the most charming and adorable places I've ever stayed in.
First of all, the huge and beautiful tropical garden is really unique (didn't see any other hotel in Siem Reap who had this on the internet). We felt like sleeping in nature. There were birds singing in the morning and the view was just amazing.
The swimming pool is big and perfect after a day trip. The atmosphere is very familiar, all hotel guests were very friendly and rather calm (of all ages! also many families).
Rooms were spacious and tasteful: some traditional art pieces, high quality wooden furniture and some red components which made it very cozy. This was our first hotel where this suitcase bench thing (no idea what this is called) was big enough for 2 suitcases - at least one hotel that tried to think as their users who often don't want to unpack for a short stay. Bravo!
The staff was very friendly, professional and really adorable. The best was that they were real insiders of Cambodia and they organized all our tours perfectly. They gave us suggestions which were not (yet) in travel guides which made this an unforgettable stay (e.g. we visited a more remote and therefore more beautiful part of Tonle Sap).
The breakfast was of high quality, fresh and very tasty. I can also definitely recommend the restaurant of the hotel (we only tried their asian dishes but they were really good!).
In our opinion the location could not have been any more perfect. In was really in the city, but in a little side alley so very calm (which is a relief in Siem Reap...).
There were lot's of nice restaurants and shops around. Actually the whole eastern part of the city (devided by the river) is the nicer, more authentic part of the city! In the western part there is pub street (some people might think this is the centre because there are the most people at night, but unless you are a party animal you really won't want to live in this area!).
The hotel also works together with some tuktuk and car drivers, which was great because there was always one available and they were completely trustworthy. We had a tuktuk driver for 2 days (for Ankor Wat and for the lake), he was super nice and drove us to the best temples and places so we didn't need to take care of anything ourselves, very convenient!
The owner of the hotel founded a very important NGO for children in Cambodia (we visited some of their projects as well), which was also important for us when choosing Borann since we like responsable travelling.
I did lot's of hotel research in advance before choosing Borann, and I can say for sure that this was the best choice we could have made.
Thanks a lot for such a nice comment. Whaou....it is a great pleasure to read it. Benito.
I stayed at this hotel for 8 nights in February and found it a lovely place for a long stay in SR.
The staff were uniformly helpful and polite. My room was cleaned thoroughly every day, the breakfasts were excellent, though rather too large for my appetite. The room was light and airy - I had one of the rooms on the top floor which are preferable because they are more private. The shower worked very well and the bed was really comfortable.
I do not have any criticism to make of either the hotel or the drivers they found for us. Mr. Bounna and Mrs. Chan were both extremely helpful and looked after us very well.
Can't recommend this hotel highly enough.
Thanks a lot for your nice comment. Yes, indeed, we are very lucky to have Bunna and Chan and it is nice to tell it. Benito.
We loved this hotel. Everything about it. The staff was amazing. The rooms are charming. The outdoor porch was so lovely to relax and enjoy a coffee or a pre dinner cocktail. I love the tile floors and the ambiance in the room. We stayed on the second floor which provided an amazing vista into the garden, the terrace and the pool area. It was quiet and peaceful and yet less than a 20 minute walk to where all the hustle and bustle is near the market and pub street. When you need a reservation, they take care of it for you. When you need a tuk tuk--also taken care of quickly. THe breakfasts were delicious and substantial and the housekeeping was meticulous. I'm sure this is not always possible, but since they were not completely booked the night we departed, they allowed us to keep our room until 9 PM when we left for the airport. I cannot imagine such generous treatment from many other establishments. Advantages of this area were 3 very worthwhile attractions so close. First the Angkor Museum, http://www.angkornationalmuseum.com, which is beautifully presented with amazing artifacts and historical context. Second the Phare Circus, http://www.pharecambodiancircus.org/circus, which was one of the most moving, creative, and athletically impressive productions I have ever seen, and a fabulous restaurant down the street, Marum, which also caters to vegetarians in your group and also supports disadvantaged youth by offering training and education, part of a community-based enterprise. Love this place and would recommend it to everyone! You get comfort but don't lose touch of the fact that you are after all in Cambodia!
Thanks a lot for your nice comment. Benito.
Borann l'Auberge des Temples was the second most amazing discovery in Cambodia after the Khmer temples! We arrived here following our friend's advice and interested in the mission of the foundation that runs the hotel, an NGO defending the rights of childhood in Cambodia. We found out it is also a fantastic accommodation, close to Angkor site and 5 minutes by tuk-tuk from the lights of Siam Reap nights.
This place is an oasis in Siam Reap, with its gorgeous garden and relaxing swimming pool: the perfect atmosphere to spend the last hours of the day after visiting the temples.
The hotel is made of ten cozy, 2-floor bungalows around the garden, that guarantee privacy, comfort and peace. The rooms are essentially furnished, spotlessly clean and equipped with private terrace and sun beds.
All the staff is extremely friendly and happy to help. Mr Bunna was a perfect host, he arranged all our transfers and guided visits to the temples, and his suggestions were always excellent.
Breakfast with fresh tropical fruit and freshly made eggs was delicious and we also enjoyed dinner one night.
Reading a book from the small library drinking fresh coconut water was the most enjoyable part of our days in Siam Reap, a ritual we could easily get used to!
Thank you so much, Mr Bunna!
Thanks you very much for your nice comment. Benito.
The hotel is the only hotel I found under 60 us dollar per night and also get a swimming pool. Good breakfast and service. Nice location, walkable distance to anywhere in downtown. Also they got wifi covered in the whole hotel, although in our room the signal is very weak and we needed to go to the lobby for better speed.
Thanks a lot for your comment...and we are happy you appreciate our breakfast with homemade jams, home made yoghurt and so much more to start your day...without forgetting the nice smile of our staff. Thanks and hope to see you again.
As you know, in booking directly with the hotel, you always get the best of us. Bénito.
