We felt like we'd strayed into a 1920s film. Elegant colonial style, detail-perfect, with the refinement and class of an older era. Luxurious without being garish; staff were attentive and very genuinely nice. Concierge and desk staff helpful with arranging activities in town, and transportation. Want to go to the market? They get you a tuk-tuk driver and tell you how much it will cost. Everything was made easy. After days tramping around the temple complexes, it was the perfect place to relax and regroup. Our room was very comfortable, with every possible convenience and a balcony view of the pool. Normally, looking down at a hotel pool doesn't please me, but the design and landscaping were so fine I kept snapping photos. The poolside restaurant was quite pleasant, food was delicious if a bit pricey.
Overall it was a wallow in beauty and luxury and we enjoyed it immensely.More
