While I’ve had a TripAdvisor account for a long time and been lucky enough to stay at a lot of amazing hotels, this is the first time I’ve truly felt the need to write a review to say how awesome this one was.

From our warm welcome at the airport upon arrival (with cold towels and drinks) to our drop off today, David and his team were nothing short of outstanding. The personal service, the beautiful grounds of the estate, the food, and more “extras” than I can count made our time here one to remember.

Staying for 4 days and 3 nights, my buddy and I were taken care of the way you might if you were staying with close friends. Helping us plan and book drivers for day trips to avoid the crowds, making helpful suggestions for restaurants and things to do in town, to coming by with free beverages at dinner or by the pool, every last detail was taken care of. I even saw David (the owner) sneak a guy a bouquet of flowers to give his girlfriend when they arrived.

I honestly can’t say enough things about this hotel and it’s staff or recommend this place enough!! Believe all the positive reviews and the almost perfect score. This hotel deserves it.

Definitely the best hotel in Siem Reap and one of the best I’ve ever stayed in anywhere. The owner David and his team really go above and beyond to give their guests the perfect experience. It all began with our free airport pickup which included the best fresh Coconut drink I’ve ever tasted, a cool towel for the car ride, and a jasmine flower. The car was spacious and comfortable and our driver had excellent English. The courteous staff and owner David greeted us on arrival and walked us to our room. We stayed here as part of our honeymoon and received the complementary room upgrade, which was very nice and the room was enormous, clean, modern and beautifully decorated. The room included a free mini bar and fruit and snacks. There is complimentary coffee in the room or you can order it from the restaurant free of charge. And it was delicious coffee. They also decorated our bed with flowers for our honeymoon and provided us with a flower bouquet and wine. The bed was very comfortable with soft sheets and pillows. They definitely pay attention to all of the small details and it shows. The hotel grounds are beautiful and intimate. There is a lovely pool area next to the hotel restaurant/bar which looks like something out of a travel magazine. The main house had a beautiful staircase and decorations throughout. We ate twice at the hotel restaurant for dinner and lunch and the food was phenomenal. One of the best salads I’ve ever had and great smoothies. You could easily eat all of your meals here! Everything we tasted was fresh and delicious and the service was perfect. They have a nice selection of local cuisine and western cuisine. The hotel arranged our Angkor Wat tour including morning pickup and guide for the day. The hotel gave us breakfast to bring along with us since we left so early. The tour guide that they reserved was also excellent and we felt well taken care of and learned so much about Cambodian culture and history. The tuk tuk driver was always waiting for us with bottled water. It was easy to pay for everything tour related as part of our check out process. We enjoyed the pool after our Angkor tour and David and his team provided us with complementary fruit and a very tasty cold tea beverage poolside. At night, they arranged a free tuk tuk ride for us into town for our dinner reservation and it costed only a $4 tuk tuk ride on the way home. Our trip ended with David personally driving us to the airport, which was again complementary. There is a reason this hotel is so well rated and I would recommend it to everyone for the reasons I mentioned from the hotel, food, rooms, all of the complementary additions (airport rides, snacks/drinks, tuk tuk rides), and of course the lovely staff.

If you are considering hotels in Siem Reap, stop searching and stay here! My wife and I just returned from a week in Siem Reap, staying at the Shintana Saya Residence for the last few days. We initially stayed at the Sokha Resort, a large international hotel, so have something to compare with. But we wish we had been at the Shintana Saya the entire time. The physical layout is compact, but beautifully designed and executed with a pool, open air bar/restaurant, garden and rooms. Our room was modern and comfortable, but the real draw was the staff and owner David. The staff were friendly and speak great English. Rina at the front desk organized a great guide with car for us to visit Angkor Wat and other temples for two days. Each day, after driving around the country, we were more than glad to return to the Shintana Saya and its pool. Like others who have written reviews, we ended up eating at the hotel’s restaurant multiple times. Its cuisine was equal to the best places downtown and included both western and local dishes. The Shintana Saya is a few kilometers from the center of town, but the owner David gave us his phone number, a ride downtown and a ride back late in the evening… he is as attentive and service oriented as the best hoteliers in any country. Cambodia and Siem Reap have much to offer for first time visitors. Still, the tranquility, service and quality of the Shintana Saya residence remain as some of the best memories of our great visit.

Room Tip: Only nine rooms... ours was on the ground floor but secluded

If you need peace and quiet in an intimate setting after a long day of touring, Shintana is your place. The service is superb by a courteous, beautiful staff which is immediately available to attend to your needs. David is a friendly, on site owner who will insure your stay is a comfortable one. A contemporary building recently built is graced with tasteful plant life, a pool, and outdoor dining. The rooms have contemporary bathroom fixtures, and are provided with excellent TV and a fast internet connection. Free tuk-tuk service will take you to town, restaurant or airport.
Shintana is highly recommended.
