We rented a car for 69 Dollar per day for twel days with Europcar in la Paz. We drove all the way to the nationalpark with is a nice way to drive (except for the traffic in the city la paz). We stayed one night in Hostal Sajama with is a nice place for one night. Good soup and breakfast was served and the huts were simple, a little cold but comfortable.
The next day we drove through the park, enjoyed the geysires, the view, the volcanos and of course the lamas, alpacas and vicuñas.

Just make sure to look for a gas station in Patacamaya because we had to leave the park a little early because we were running out of gas...

Definitely the way i would visit the park again!

For nature lovers, the Sajama National Park is top destination in Bolivia.
Fantastic views of the mountains and large groups of llamas are always present.
Departing from La Paz the first step is to take the minibus to Patacamaya that departs hourly from the vicinity of the Municipal Cemetery starting at 6:00 AM. In Patacamaya there is a Vam which departs nearby Restaurante Capitol daily at 12:00 AM. The Vam arrives at the Patacamaya stop around 9:00 AM. It is recommended to arrive at the stop at least 2 hours before the departure time to secure the place on the vam. From Patacamaya to Sajama are about 3 hours drive. To enter the Park you must pay a fee of 100 Bolivianos. 2 to 3 days are enough to visit Sajama. Be prepared to face the altitude (4200 m) and a very cold weather. In winter the temperature can drop up to -30degC.

To enjoy the hot natural pools day And night, this hostal is Perfect And the lady is a good cool as well. There is also a shop with everything you'll need. As sometimes they are stocking up in La Paz, make sure they are there prior to arrival by calling on 74002382.
Enjoy !!

One of the highlights of our trip. In addition to all the natural attractions that was one of the few places we could camp without worrying about others. One of the most beautiful places we have camped and enjoyed what is best in camping, the feeling of connection with nature.

We did a three day Sajama Nationalpark tour including a climb of Parinacota Mountain with Inca Land Tours from La Paz. The tour was very good organised and our Guide Ramiro was amazing, and super friendly he took a lot of care of us during climbing Parinacota and took also some great Photos. The tour was like agreed beforehand in the office and included everything they promised although we booked only one day in advance. The nationalpark is really amazing the view of Sajama and the twin volcanoes Parinacota and Pomerape are stunning. The thermal springs aregreat and the geysirs also. A very cool nationalpark for normal hiking and climbing 6000m peaks. I can recommend to climb Parinacota from which you have an incredible view of Sajam which stands completely alone and free. All together some of the best days we had in Bolivia.
