One needs at least a full day to really appreciate all the bargains one can find here. Wonderful place for gifts.. If you like it.. buy it.. you may not find it at the same price again.

Go there to take pictures and go on a abra ride, if you want to buy anything there just be ready to haggle hard and cut the price by 4 to get a real decent value for the product.

Visited this place with my teenagers and husband. The local boat or Abra is only 1/- dhs. Its like 40 cents for a one way ride.
Not bad. You can also opt to hire these local boats, it take you up and down the river, good during the nights.
Take a walk from Al Fahidi street in Bur dubai, keep asking directions to the Abra, you can check out some vendors whilst walking, there are small souqs there for clothings, antiques etc. Cross the river to Deira side, you can buy some spices, pistas, almonds, sweets the works. Its a good days outing. Take a lot of water, its quite safe to drink/eat in these areas.
You can also walk to the Gold Souk here... all relatively close by. keep asking for directions, they can speak english.

Very touristy place. Same types of shops throughout. Selling spices, tea, dates, saffron. Products are not priced and the sellers were not specific with pricing and kept asking you to buy more and more discounts would be granted. Is tiring. It turned out to be overpriced and not fresh dates. I do not recommend to buy but to look around and take the ferry taxi for an experience. thats it.

This Abra (boat) ride costs just 1 AED, transfers you between Bur Dubai and Deira and you can take good pictures en route. Max wait time can be 2 minutes.
Definitely a must do.
