Nestled by the river about 2 km from central LP this a beautiful place to stay for those who want to explore the area. The rooms are lovely with balconies overlooking the river and pool and the sound of wildlife is mixed with the genuine Lao traditions in houses nearby.
Nor thng that makes this place really special are the staff. Berm the butler is a marvelous gentle man for whom nothing is too much trouble. He arranged tuc tucs whenever we wanted, booked trips, brought us breakfast and occasionally some treats from treat drinks and soups.

We used the free bikes which, although they had seen better days, we're perfectly adequate and quite fun. Visit the Kisng so waterfalls by car and the whiskey villages by boat as one is beautiful and the other a lovely village to pick up beautiful weaves and local whiskey with a snake in it. ( I kid you not) the caves Pak Ou caves are not really worth a visit but if you are in the river anyway you might as well.

So, great place to stay , great staff, and we loved LP town

Room tip: All the rooms are good. Just decide if you want upstairs or downstairs

We moved here to get away from the noise in our more centrally located hotel. After 4 sleepless nights we were desperate for some peace and quiet and felt that we hit the jackpot with Mekong Estate. Toey, one of the managers, could not have been more helpful or charming and we were soon installed in the Garden Loft, which is a very nice studio apartment with a large balcony and lovely view over the gardens and the Mekong river. Our whole stay was characterised by the warm hospitality of the staff, the friendliness of other guests and the relaxation induced by the stunning view onto the river and the delicious warmth of the February sunshine. And special thanks to our housekeeper, Nee, who looked after us brilliantly and filled our space with lovely flowers....

Mekong Estate is not a boutique hotel as only serves breakfasts (although they can deliver lunch and dinner if required) but it is truly a delightful place to stay. And the peace and quiet? The only noise we had was a mad volleyball game played by local kids on the weekend on the riverbank. And that was a great entertainment in itself...

The Estate is about a 10 minute tuk tuk ride into town (approx 40,000 kip) but the staff will often arrange a car for you if needed. And they will happily give advice and organise expeditions too...

Really a great experience!

This is truly a special place - hidden away amidst a small Laos village, with a superb location on the Mekong River. We stayed in the Bamboo Suite - really beautiful, tasteful and spacious accommodation. Mr Touy and our housekeeper were very attentive - a fantastic breakfast was served to us in our room every morning and Mr Touy drove us into town every evening, as well as reserving and recommending wonnderful restaurants. The hotel is set in lovely tropical gardens with superb views of the river. We loved watching the sunsets and the young monks relaxing by the river. There is a lovely infinity pool. The hotel provides free bikes for its guests - a great way to explore Luang Prabang. Overall a delightful place that you wont want to leave. Will be returning!

Room tip: The Bamboo Suite especially the upstairs suite is gorgeous

We went to Mekong estates for the duration of our stay in Luangprabang. Before that, we had been in another hotel outside the city where unfortunately, I got sick. Once we got into Mekong Estates, we were ushered inside by Tuey and May. I personally never really met Tuey for I was in bed for most of the trip, but May was amazing. Upon arrival, I went to bed and slept most of the day but my family got take out from a great restaurant recommended by the staff. When I woke up in the morning we went downstairs to find an amazing breakfast made fresh by May. It was delicious and just the way and time we had ordered it the day before on our breakfast cards. The rooms are extremely comfortable and the facilities and properties are great. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Room tip: We loved the sunset house!

Thank you so much for the review, I will pass on your kind words to Tuey and May. We are so sorry you were ill during our stay in our lovely city. It is our pleasure to look after you and your family while you are here, especially when you are sick.

We love the Sunset Villa at Mekong Estate, right on the river, great views and the pool is perfect for a swim after a hot day.

A beautiful furnished room with a big terace overlooking the Mekong. A big pool to swim and also a relaxing place overlooking the Mekong with a tropical garden. Delicious breakfast in the room (overlooking the Mekong) and a helpful and friendly staff. We could use the bikes to go to the city which is not really far, but we also did walk or take a tuk tuk and the way was it worth because of the beautiful place.
