Absolutely loved this place. We were 11 for lunch and all 11 agreed food was excellent. All dishes are laid out in front of you. You pick your meat and 2 sides. The bring it to your table. Lunch was 80 Quetzals. approximately $11.00. It was plentiful and excellent. 3rd floor terrace has great views. Place was featured on Andrew Zimmern show.
Line was long but moves fast. Wish I had found it earlier in my visit I would have eaten there again.

We saw this restaurant showcased on Delicious Destinations. So I printed out the information and showed it to our tour guide. He was familiar with the place and said he would recommend it.
It was only about 4 blocks from where our bus dropped us off. It is a little overwhelming at first to see all the pots of food right there in the doorway. My husband speaks Spanish so between him and the gentleman behind the counter they picked out the short rib stew for me. My husband had a beef and chicken stew. Both are served with two sides. If you like beans I would recommend the large red whole bean salad. Fantastic. The stews were piping hot and delicious. You can see the woman in the back room making the fresh tortillas that come with your meal.
Our lunch which included a lot of food (we took the tortillas back to the ship) and we had two beers was $40 with the tip. They accepted US dollars. Not very many places in the US can you have authentic food and alcoholic beverages for less than that.
Our waiter was very nice and offered to take us to the roof top to take pictures of the city. What a nice surprise.

His place was recommended by not only a local but other tourists we met while on our hike of Pacaya. The food was amazing and we all enjoyed the selections and the atmosphere of the restaurant.

we went here for lunch twice. Great selection of local main dishes, salads & starches. This people cook dishes only some of us grew up with. Like Tong, Tripe, Oxtail and other exotic items. Who ever cooked it did a great job! Excellent service and attention. Ask to go up to the upper balcony for great and better shots of Antigua.

La Cuevita was recommended by our tour guide as making authentic Guatemalan sauces from scratch and serving excellent tipico dishes. The pots of meat in sauce were fun to pick from, as were the tasty side dishes. Don't fear the caliente as it's not very spicy. Everything was quite good, especially the pork, tortillas, guacamole and beans.

Be sure to take your plate to the rooftop to enjoy spectacular views of Antigua and the mountains.

Great service.
