Ika Mata island fish and coconut
Salad and fish and chips were our orders. I also had a fruit smoothie, which hit the spot. The Ika Mata was unique but delicious.

Thank you for the lovely feedback on your meal with us. So glad you enjoyed the smoothie and our Cook Islands specialty the Ika Mata marinated fish and freshly squeezed coconut cream salad.
Look forward to seeing you next time you visit the island.

Ate here on two occasions. Had the mixed tempura fish both times, very good, nicely cooked and tasty. Service with a smile and was efficient. Don't be fooled by its quite simple looks it's good, anywhere that has an open kitchen has to be confident of its food, this place was.

Kia Orana Stephen,
Really appreciate your positive feedback on our casual dining and the combination tempura dish.
Will relay to the smiling and efficient front of house and the chefs in the open kitchen, who love to hear feedback like this!

I think this place is relying too much on its relationship with the Tamarind. Had a very average breakfast here with my husband. The waiter did not say a word as she took our order. I had a smoothie which was mostly water. The food was not in any way desirable - we will not be going again.

We appreciate your feedback on your experience. We are investigating why on this morning it was not up to our usual friendly quality standard.
We do not use water in our smoothies, only Nu (coconut juice) and fresh fruit, in this case perhaps too much ice was used by our bartender and melted in this hot weather.
As we are not certain which breakfasts you had, our chef can only strive to ensure that all food served is tasty and desirable.
Like most restaurants, our management and staff find it especially helpful to get constructive input at the time of dining, as it lets us improve right away. Wishing you better experiences ahead.

There isn't much choice for lunch in Avarua, Capital town of Rarotonga/Cook islands. Situated right on the main road and central town. It is open, has bar and food not too bad. If you can have the octopus curry - try it! It is beautiful...

My wife and I plus our good friends from San Diego, CA, visited Rarotonga via a Cruise Ship port call. We walked the main Street and saw The New Place Restaurant with an inviting Menu sign outside. The owner Pasha invited us in and since she took Visa and had fast Wi-Fi at a reasonable rate, we entered. Our lunch was hot, wonderful and promptly served. The beer was ice cold and the Wi-Fi fast. We had an excellent day and highly recommend this fine Cafe!
