Also prices are not very good. The place seemed a bit "dead". There are many shops, but many are quite similar. Better to buy in Cusco.

Most stalls have almost the same things as the previous one, but this is definitely the place to go for souvenirs and alpaca clothing.

We spent New Years Eve and Jan.1, 2018 In Lima. I was afraid everything would be closed on Jan. 1 but we found the Indian market, and a couple of other markets, open and fully operational. I love markets, so the Indian market was fun, and there were a several other markets nearby. I bought two silver rings, which are lovely and a decent price. We walked around a lot, and when we didn’t feel like walking, we took readily-available Ubers.

As opposed to what we had expected, everywhere in Peru seemed to take USD as well as Peruvian sol. Also, the tipping information provided by the tour company was extremely helpful.

Probably the best selection around Lima for souvenirs, but in the higher end silver items, you'll do better elsewhere. I found prices for silver better around Plaza de Armas, such as Avenida Carabaya. But this is a very safe and fun area to look around, and find everything in one place. Friendly people here.
