I was in this hotel for a business trip to Singapore for a week. It was fine as a business hotel, with one major let-down;

Firstly the good things;

The room was fine - if rather small. I had a 'superior' room, but I think that really means 'standard' as they have nothing less. It was a nice room, very clean, tidy, well-appointed. There is a small ironing board and a good quality iron - a nice point, and a tea/coffee tray/kettle which could have done with a little more coffee on it. The bathroom (shower only) was nice and there was a good selection of toiletries. There was air-con which was efficient if rather noisy overnight. Overall I was happy with the room, although for a week stay I'd rather like a bit more space in both bedroom and bathroom - I guess this is Singapore so space is at a premium everywhere.

The service was great. The reception, cleaning, concierge staff could not have been more welcoming. There were no problems in my stay but I feel confident that if there were, they would have been sorted out efficiently.

The swimming pool is nice - a small oasis surrounded by palm trees. Pleasant.

The gym is small but reasonably well equipped, with 3 treadmills, 2 bikes, a couple of weight machines, a couple of benches, weight machines, and a rack of dumb-bells. All the kit was good quality and new. There are towels available at both pool and gym, although I did see them run out on occasion.

Wifi is easy to connect to, fast, and appeared to be a strong signal everywhere.

Now the bit that lets it down;

The restaurant for both evening meal and breakfast is good enough, but way too small. The hotel is pretty big (24 floors) and so at breakfast, it was heaving with people. The buffet selection was good, but there were so many people that as soon as something was put out, it would be decimated. The buffet was split into two areas too, so that people were queuing and squeezing past each other everywhere - uncomfortable for people on the nearby tables. Actually it was a lot more pleasant to sit outside (and why not in the tropics) but you still had to contend with the crush.

The fresh egg / omelette bar outside was excellent, and probably unknown for the people who stayed inside, so it was a bit quieter than everywhere else.

There were two very-slow coffee machines, again leading to a massive queue. These individual-grindy-percolatey machines do nice coffee but it's sooo slow. Why can hotels not just put out a big urn or filter pot, so for those of us who don't want to wait 30 minutes for an espresso, can just slosh out a mug instantly. Queue problem solved!

The restaurant for the evening was ok, but they made heavy weather of splitting a bill between individuals, and we all left with the certainty that they'd managed to charge the same items to about 3 different rooms.

Finally another good thing - the location is pretty good for the MRT, and the area has loads of restaurants in short walkies.

Would I stay here again? Probably not - purely because of the squeeze for breakfast. A pity really because the staff were great, as were lots of other points, but there is a lot of strong competition in Singapore for hotels, so I'd choose to try another one.

Final point - the lobby could really do with a few 'normal' chairs, for when waiting for colleagues, rather than the arty 'shapes' that they do have. They look nice, but you just can't sit on them properly.

Why not give me a 'helpful vote?

Room Tip: there are 24 floors. The lifts are very efficient. High up gives the better view (!)

They charge 30 sgd for breakfast. The room was not spacious.

Well furnished and comfortable hotel close to NUS and the Buona Vista MRT station. There is a mall across the road with a good range of restaurants to eat.
Free WiFi provided.
Staff are helpful.

One small problem: they've messed up my bedding arrangements for 3 stays now. Of course, they're always helpful in rectifying it. Just a little irritating though.
