A visit to Singapore is not complete without a visit to Zam Zam. Steeped in decades of history it’s the place to go for Muslim food. If in doubt what to have, order the chicken murtabak and you won’t be disappointed.

My wife first told me about Zam Zam more than 40 years ago. We decided to give it a try on our visit to Singapore. We did not eat in the restaurant but did take out. If you like Indian - Muslim Food this is must. The Murtabaks, Briyanis, and Goregns are fabulous and I would rate them one of the best that I tasted in South East Asia. Don't get put off my the building located on North Bridge Road. The food is what it is all about. Taste, variety, and portions make it well worth the visit. The staff are great and very helpful. Get there early because there usually is a line up. Well with the time to visit and enjoy the food.

Arrived and were shown a table upstairs right away.
Drinks served promptly and meals ordered.
Meals delivered after a short time and the murtabaks were outstanding and cooked to perfection.

No alcohol served here, but plenty of other drinks to choose from.

Great asian food, great service and at a very reasonable price.

If you want good food at a good price and don't mind sitting with others, on plastic chairs, this is the place for you.
My favourite dish is mutton Mutabbak, it comes with a curry sauce and goes well with iced tea.
Wikipedia says ‘Mutabbak, is a stuffed pancake, which is commonly found in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and Thailand.’ It is delicious and the best place for it is Zam Zam, which is over a hundred years old and across from the Grand Masjid.
All the food in the photo cost ten Singapore Dollars.

I had read the reviews of this restaurant so had to go there. I was there especially for the murtabak. They serve the murtabak with fish curry gravy and a mutton gravy. The food is heavy, greasy but delicious. Just forget your diet for a day and indulge into the best in Singapore. The food is cheap, service is fast and staff are very very helpful. If you are a vegetarian, yo might have a difficult time. We had one vegetarian among us (eggiterain), they were kind enough to prepare a egg meal for her. I could eat everyday here.
