This is a very casual dining spot- plastic chairs and tables. But the food is awesome. Get the laksa and enjoy. If you've never had laksa, it's a coconut based noodle soup that has great flavors and is super tasty. There were a lot of locals eating here as well, which is always a good sign.

This is the one that Gordon Ramsay visited during one of his TV shows.

And the Laksa is really good. Many locals here dropping in to get their fill. It's no frills and plastic chairs to sit on and it is great value for money.

Laksa is basically a coconut broth with noodles and various seafood items in it like cockles, prawns and sliced fish balls. It is pretty spicy and rich. One bowl of it will really fill you up.

I live a short walk away and frequent here regularly.

It tasted quite OK, I think. But I do not think I could consume a bowl of laksa by myself. The soup was too "heavy" for me, lots of coconut milk. But the chili sauce was really delicious, I think this was what made the laksa tasted good. But you could only get 2 packs of chili. You should pay if you want more.

Laksa is good, taste the creamy gravy before mixing the chilli sachets if you can't take spicy. The otak otak (spiced fish paste) was good. Finish meal with cold fresh lime juice. You are only given a spoon to eat your food
Place is small & can be crowded. You need to queue to place your order & pay. Place is clean & air-cond.

The exterior of the incarnation of 328 Katong Laksa that I visited at 51 East Coast Road, near Joo Chiat Road, made me think of some fast food chain style restaurant!
Obviously being involved with a Gordon Ramsay challenge has paid off for the owners, as there seem to be several outlets of the 328 Katong Laksa brand. I hadn't realised this at the time, but it would seem there is an outlet at Queensway Shopping Centre, another at 51 East Coast Road on the corner of Ceylon Road, and another at 216 East Coast Road. I think I read somewhere that there is a 4th outlet as well but I'm not sure of the address. The one I visited seemed quite new and the dominant colours were orange and white - an interesting combination.
It seems also that the price is a little higher than expected, probably again based on the popularity of the brand after its publicity. I can't remember exactly how much I paid, but it was a little on the steep side. Still, the price wasn't unreasonable compared to what I'd pay back home.
Service was efficient, but not really very friendly or anything. The laksa was tasty, and the seafood taste was slightly stronger than I was used to. The taste of the cockles was fairly strong, and in terms of this I preferred Sungei Road Laksa. Nevertheless, 328 Katong Laksa had more ingredients, so it was good that way.
They certainly put out a nice, tasty laksa. I don't have enough experience to be able to make bold claims like "Singapore's best laksa". I don't think it was the best, but it was certainly very good. Thanks and best good luck for the future!
