We visited Boracay several times last year and would frequently stay at this hotel in Station 1. One of the main reasons we no longer explore for alternative hotels is because of their consistency in consumer engagement. They simply hold the record on so many facets of the hotel industry that we find quite satisfying.
This time, though, we decided to try station zero and stay at Mövenpick Resort & Spa. And here are some of our remarkable experiences with this five-star hotel that answer the question "worth it or not?"
HOTEL FACILITY (8 out of 10)
We stayed in a normal deluxe room and were pleasantly pleased by how roomy it was. High ceilings, ambient lighting and updated fixtures, a clean bathroom and toilet, a terrace with gorgeous scenery, and the hotel lobby tucked among well-kept vegetation.
THE STAFF (9 out of 10)
Consistently pleasant throughout our stay, this aspect of the hotel service is noteworthy since, in addition to being courteous, they have also demonstrated being proactive, from the pool lifeguard to front desk employees. This is totally unheard of versus several experiences we've had from other hotels.
We had one outstanding experience with them when we checked out on March 8, 2018. Our flight was at 9:35 a.m., and we had to tell the front desk of our check-in time the night before. We had one outstanding experience with them when we checked out on March 8, 2018. Our flight was at 9:35 a.m., and we had to tell the front desk of our check-in time the night before. We were first concerned that due to our early flight, we would be unable to consume the breakfast buffet. With their proactiveness, the front desk personnel offered us a packed breakfast on our way out. We were astounded by this gesture, and the displeasure we had due to a lack of options in their food was transformed into enthusiastic clients of the hotel as a result of this degree of customer interaction. Furthermore, we would repeatedly request many jugs of ice cold water with a separate bucket of ice, and they would gladly comply. Had this been with another hotel, we would most likely be charged for room service.
THE MULTI-LEVEL POOL (12 out of 10)
The hotel's multi-level pool is undoubtedly one of the reasons you want to stay at Mövenpick Boracay. More than the luring appeal of the beach, their pool will hijack your decision every time you see it, and will hypnotically make you want to jump in right away. We have never stayed in a hotel where the swimming pool has such a strong hold on you that having a plunge or simply hanging around it seemed so powerful that it would be wrong to disregard the blue waters and its multi-level allure. The surrounding lush sceneries, partially submerged water loungers, and the effects of different pool heights create the illusion of one enormous infinity pool subsequently contributing to an extremely enjoyable and visually appealing body of water right at the heart of the resort.
THE FOOD (5 out of 10)
Within the resort, there are around four distinct restaurants that offer a variety of food options. However, this is one of the things they will have to work on. The breakfast spread we saw for the six days we were there hardly appealed to our appetite for a sumptuous first meal of the day.
It was so awful that people began comparing the quality of their cuisine to that of Henann Prime Beach Resort, a four-star hotel in Station One. I couldn't agree more with this comparison because we've also had a wonderful stay with Henann Prime, and I must say that their breakfast spread almost always guarantees a stuffed tummy ready to add several pounds to your waistline.
According to one of the restaurant managers, most of their senior chefs have resigned owing to the epidemic, resulting in the state of their cuisine. And because of this, they have graciously relaxed their policies of bringing in food from the outside.
As a result, you should not be discouraged from checking in at Mövenpick Boracay because there are still a number of reasons why your stay at the hotel will be incredibly rewarding.
THE BEACH (7 out of 10)
Because this is Boracay, you'd anticipate the beautiful, white beach sand to be along the shore. The beachfront at Mövenpick includes white, fine sand as well, however it is not as smooth and immaculate as that at station 1.
However, based on our most recent visit, the moss on this side of the beach was substantially less than at stations 1 or 2. As a result, the beach is fairly appealing for a pleasant afternoon bath and an amazing sunset view.
SENSE OF EXCLUSIVITY (9 out of 10)
Because the station zero waterfront is basically shared by only three resorts - Shangri-La, Mövenpick, and Crimson - you are always ensured of a less crowded beachfront, perhaps giving you that impression of increased exclusivity without having to rub shoulders with other guests.
This means the energy vibes are more restrained, refined, and laid back here. Isn't that why you've come to the beach in the first place? To unwind. That's exactly what you'd get here.
NIGHTLIFE (7 out of 10)
The Sol Marina Beach Club is one of the resort's locations where you may recline in the mornings and take in the beautiful beachfront views, watch the sunset with cocktails in the afternoons, or simply unwind in the evenings. It's not the place to go for a high-energy beach party or to get drunk and crazy with sand in your feet. It offers a more peaceful, upscale lounge and mellow setting, perfect for unwinding after a day of swimming or island hopping.
If they organize events there (which I'm sure they do from time to time), it may also be a good location to hang out and let your hair down.
So much for our stay at the Mövenpick Boracay. Do we want to come back? It's a resounding YES.More
