Arrived past nine in the evening, the Front Office staff were expecting us. The check in procedure was a bit confusing but finally sorted out. There was only one bellhop, so it took sometime to have us shown to our rooms. The room was very well appointed, colorful, clean and roomy. In the morning, we had to find our way to the coffee shop as there was not enough signage to show us where to go. No designated pathways and it was rainy. But as soon as we walked into the air conditioned coffee shop, it was an oasis. Staff were cheery and very helpful, the breakfast selection was great and the food was very good. The GM showed up with the head chef. Complimented them for a very well prepared breakfast spread. Best breakfast I had. You should be there.

The resort is approximately 90 minutes from the airport. We had originally tried to cancel the reservation when we were told the beach was closed. We were looking for a place just to relax and enjoy the beaches of Palawan. We were glad that we decided to stay at the hotel.

The only negative of the resort was the beach. During low tide the waterfront was non-existent. But the resort itself was excellent. I would give it a 5 star if it wasn't for the lack of a beach. We came directly from Boracay to Astoria and had stayed at the Shangra La in Boracay. Astoria is not in the same league but bang for the buck it was better than the Shang,

The supervisor Jopay was tremendous, she made our stay very enjoyable, arranging a trip to a nearby sandbar and ensuring we were well taken care of, even on her day off checking in on us. She is a great resource at the hotel and provided customer service even the Shang could not match.

This resort has a lot of potential and we would definitely come back and would even consider other Astoria locations in the Philippines.

My husband booked us for an overnight stay here with our daughter. The resort is far from the city proper (almost 2 hrs travel) but they provided the hotel transfer from the city to the resort. (Although they made us wait for more than an hour for the van). The transpo also caters to the other check in guests of the hotel.

Naturally we all arrived and the same time and lined up for check in. Around 30 minutes later, we are heading for our room already. The room is nice. It has 2 double beds and a large comfort room.

We immediately proceeded to the water park and spent the whole afternoon there. I learned that the waterpark is for a fee and is not included in the hotel package. We have a lot of fun in the waterpark.

Around 6 pm headed back to our hotel room and get ready for dinner. The dinner is buffet and the food are great. After dinner, theres not much to do so we opt to sleep early.

Early in the morning, my daughter wanted to go swimming in their pool. Sadly there are life guards on the pool then so i decided to stay with her. There’s no cabanas beside the pool for us to stay but the pool is adjacent to the dining hall. It was a quick swim for my daughter then we readied ourselves for breakfast buffet.

After breakfast we had videoke for free and my daughter played their xbox and playstation for free also. They also have a mini golf which we tried.

Before lunch, we checked out and headed back to the city.

its my birthday vacation!!!!! we chose astoria palawan as the reviews are overwhelming :) when we got there, the place is nice and the security is tight... but the entrance is quite narrow... then we reached "the canopy" or their main lobby... the lobby is quite small and less extravagant but is chic and modern... the staff are friendly - they welcomed us with smiles, with necklace, the superb astoria mini bibingkas and a very refreshing drink :) :) :) i like the place - its really a home away from home... the waterpark is amazing - i love it, im sure the kids will more love it :) love the mini golf course too... there is also a game room and videoke room but i hope astoria will consider to make those rooms soundproofed... the pool is nice but its quite small and i hope astoria will consider constructing a bigger one... the rooms are spacious, chic and modern too but our room smelled with cigarette smoke when we return from breakfast on our Day 2... we reported the same as i believed that Astoria Palawan is a smoke free resort... we were advised to change our room - thanks to Manager Mark for acting asap on our problem as i have allergy on cigarette smoke... the dinner buffet is good as well as the breakfast buffet but i suggest to have variations on breakfast and consider seafoods viands as palawan boasts for its fresh catch... considering its my birthday - my hubby ask for a complimentary cake but their policy is to inform them 24 hours before... well, as a matter of courtesy to the guests celebrating their birthdays, complimentary mini cakes should be made available upon request ;)
lastly, beware of sand fleas as their beach is infested with it... i got home with sand flea bites all over my legs - got to see a doctor too... they did not inform us when we got there... we just see the small sign after we walked on the shore... until now im still seeing a derma for the bites - hope it will not leave a mark...
as i observed, there are still more plans and construction to be done at astoria palawan... hopefully it will all be constructed soon...
well, its still a happy birthday to me :)

The only issues i had with this hotel were the beach (cant swim) and the distance from the airport! But if you have plans of driving to el nido, staying at this hotel will save you about 1.5 hours. The rooms were BIG! Food was good, not too expensive, service was great, they have a waterpark beside the hotel, and they have a free shuttle to and from the airport.
