The resort is approximately 90 minutes from the airport. We had originally tried to cancel the reservation when we were told the beach was closed. We were looking for a place just to relax and enjoy the beaches of Palawan. We were glad that we decided to stay at the hotel.

The only negative of the resort was the beach. During low tide the waterfront was non-existent. But the resort itself was excellent. I would give it a 5 star if it wasn't for the lack of a beach. We came directly from Boracay to Astoria and had stayed at the Shangra La in Boracay. Astoria is not in the same league but bang for the buck it was better than the Shang,

The supervisor Jopay was tremendous, she made our stay very enjoyable, arranging a trip to a nearby sandbar and ensuring we were well taken care of, even on her day off checking in on us. She is a great resource at the hotel and provided customer service even the Shang could not match.

This resort has a lot of potential and we would definitely come back and would even consider other Astoria locations in the Philippines.

My husband booked us for an overnight stay here with our daughter. The resort is far from the city proper (almost 2 hrs travel) but they provided the hotel transfer from the city to the resort. (Although they made us wait for more than an hour for the van). The transpo also caters to the other check in guests of the hotel.

Naturally we all arrived and the same time and lined up for check in. Around 30 minutes later, we are heading for our room already. The room is nice. It has 2 double beds and a large comfort room.

We immediately proceeded to the water park and spent the whole afternoon there. I learned that the waterpark is for a fee and is not included in the hotel package. We have a lot of fun in the waterpark.

Around 6 pm headed back to our hotel room and get ready for dinner. The dinner is buffet and the food are great. After dinner, theres not much to do so we opt to sleep early.

Early in the morning, my daughter wanted to go swimming in their pool. Sadly there are life guards on the pool then so i decided to stay with her. There’s no cabanas beside the pool for us to stay but the pool is adjacent to the dining hall. It was a quick swim for my daughter then we readied ourselves for breakfast buffet.

After breakfast we had videoke for free and my daughter played their xbox and playstation for free also. They also have a mini golf which we tried.

Before lunch, we checked out and headed back to the city.

Dear fellizee,

It makes us very happy to know that your family had a great vacation! We loved hearing about the fun times you had at the Palawan Waterpark and at our various facilities. You probably have fantastic shots to remember your experiences by, and we would love to be tagged on them! We also want to know who won your family’s mini golf game. Did you get to score a hole in one, too?

Your comfort and security are among our top priorities, which is why we are alarmed to hear your feedback about the lifeguards at our pool. This has definitely been discussed with our staff and upper management, so trust that this issue will not happen again on your next visit.

We would love to have you with us again for when you want to get away from it all and just unwind. Your Astoria family is already looking forward to your next R&R getaway!

Warm regards,
The Astoria Palawan Management

its my birthday vacation!!!!! we chose astoria palawan as the reviews are overwhelming :) when we got there, the place is nice and the security is tight... but the entrance is quite narrow... then we reached "the canopy" or their main lobby... the lobby is quite small and less extravagant but is chic and modern... the staff are friendly - they welcomed us with smiles, with necklace, the superb astoria mini bibingkas and a very refreshing drink :) :) :) i like the place - its really a home away from home... the waterpark is amazing - i love it, im sure the kids will more love it :) love the mini golf course too... there is also a game room and videoke room but i hope astoria will consider to make those rooms soundproofed... the pool is nice but its quite small and i hope astoria will consider constructing a bigger one... the rooms are spacious, chic and modern too but our room smelled with cigarette smoke when we return from breakfast on our Day 2... we reported the same as i believed that Astoria Palawan is a smoke free resort... we were advised to change our room - thanks to Manager Mark for acting asap on our problem as i have allergy on cigarette smoke... the dinner buffet is good as well as the breakfast buffet but i suggest to have variations on breakfast and consider seafoods viands as palawan boasts for its fresh catch... considering its my birthday - my hubby ask for a complimentary cake but their policy is to inform them 24 hours before... well, as a matter of courtesy to the guests celebrating their birthdays, complimentary mini cakes should be made available upon request ;)
lastly, beware of sand fleas as their beach is infested with it... i got home with sand flea bites all over my legs - got to see a doctor too... they did not inform us when we got there... we just see the small sign after we walked on the shore... until now im still seeing a derma for the bites - hope it will not leave a mark...
as i observed, there are still more plans and construction to be done at astoria palawan... hopefully it will all be constructed soon...
well, its still a happy birthday to me :)

Dear queail20,

Thank you for this kind review. Feedback like yours is taken to heart here at Astoria Palawan, as your words serve as our guide for continued improvement.

It is pleasing to know that you loved the excellent service from our staff, and we are thrilled to hear about all the fun you had at the fabulous Palawan Waterpark. We bet that your kids will also love it. Be sure to tag us on your cool photos for Instagram or Facebook!

On another note, we are deeply concerned to hear that you encountered an issue at our beachfront. As you have seen, our beach is currently undergoing a nourishment program to preserve our island’s natural beauty. As such, we kindly ask for your continued patience and understanding. Do not fret, however, since we will soon be unveiling our renewed beach, and you will surely get that picturesque sunset view!

We have also taken note of your various suggestions, and these will be taken cared of by the time we welcome you back with your kids. We cannot wait to give you an even better Astoria Palawan experience, so do give us that heads up for a chocolate or vanilla birthday cake!

Yours,
The Astoria Palawan Management

The only issues i had with this hotel were the beach (cant swim) and the distance from the airport! But if you have plans of driving to el nido, staying at this hotel will save you about 1.5 hours. The rooms were BIG! Food was good, not too expensive, service was great, they have a waterpark beside the hotel, and they have a free shuttle to and from the airport.

Dear Juan Carlos B,

Words cannot express how overjoyed we are with your kind review! We consistently ensure that our guests have an amazing vacation at our beautiful resort, so we are definitely happy to hear that you had great experiences - a spacious and comfortable room, savory food and refreshing drinks, top-notch facilities, and great service.

It saddens us to hear that our beach nourishment program may have affected your excitement about our beach. But worry not, as the wonderful renewed beachfront will soon be ready for you! We would love to have you back with us on our lush Palawan island. We are sure you would not want to miss out on the new and improved Astoria Palawan!

Initially, i thought its a turn-off because of its isolated location, too far from the famous tourist spots, but then its a grand destination on its own. Never ran short of fun activities with all access to its game room, swimming pool, beach, mini golf course, function hall (were we watched Pacquiao on big screen) and waterpark. Well, these are common resort amenities but what sets Astoria apart from its contemporaries is the well-trained and amiable staff. We were pampered and well taken care of from day 1 with their unique welcome gesture to last day, with a comfy transport to airport (one van for the 4 of us).
They even assisted us in coordinating tours to el nido and puerto princesa tourist spots.
Looking forward to return soon.
