“Good hotel for relaxation”
Reviewed March 8, 2017

We checked in around 5 pm.It's 2 hours away from the city, and if you really want to go away and want to relax, this is the place to be.
The guard is friendly, and radioed a cart to bring us to the hotel lobby to checked in.Upon checking in,we were served welcome drinks and food (it's a shame I didn't had the chance to took photos of it,it was delicious I forgot everything LOL) and they gave us seashells necklaces each.
We were escorted to the room.It is spacious. It's a villa! The room have complete toiletries ( soap,shampoo.etc.) which is good.Bed is comfy and the room is perfect for the family ( we are 3 adults and 1 kid). The room have it's own sink, plates, utensils and have a dining table.
Wifi is good, but not that fast. You must go outside to get better reception. On the night of our stay,we had 2 brown outs, but electricity come back immediately. It's understandable though, the resort is too far from the city and remember, this is a province. After resting a bit,we head out to swim.
The swimming pool is jacuzzi-like and in the evening it's cery colorful. We never had the chance to swim in the beach coz it's too cold LOL.
In the evening, guards are roving and always making sure that everyone is safe so you don't need to be paranoid that you are in a middle of nowhere. Outside the rooms, mosquitoes are everywhere so don't forget to put insect repellant.
For dinner,as the on-site restaurant food is pricey ( for the backpacker me,it was) we just got out and bought lutong ulam in the carinderia in front of the resort which is tasty. We had a few beers we bought in the grocery in front of the resort. The store there closes at 8 pm.
At the time we was there, the guests there are mostly foreigners, the only Pinoys I saw are a couples of families.
At 10 pm,we were then lights out..

In the morning,we ate at the restaurant because we have free buffet breakfast. The food is tasty but I wish they have more choices of food.Attendants are alert too,and will get the plate as soon as it's empty and you are finished.Hindi din sila nakakailang unlike in Astoria Plaza (Ortigas) na titigan ka kumain.HEHE.

After breakfast,we tried playing golf and billiards.Hubby tried thier fitness area too.
The resort is quite big and if you will only walk back and forth you will be sweaty when you reach your room LOL so better asked for the cart to fetch you.
We had charged 1,000PHP for an extra person! (we are 3 adults!).Upon checking in,I asked about the extra person charge and the receptionist on that day said we won't be charge as long as we won't ask for an extra bed.(We didn't asked for one).
And then upon checking out,we asked fot the payment for the extra person! We just paid them so we can leave because we will be late in our flights.
So,in total we paid 1,000PHP the resort.
We rent a van and got out at 12:00 noon to catch our flight back to Manila.Overall,it's a relaxing experience, except the payment part. :)

Room Tip: Choose the villa,it is sooo big :)

If you really intend to disconnect from your very busy city life, then this is one place that you can go. But if you're here at Palawan with the intention to go on tours, it is still possible but it will be very costly.

In our experience, we have no problems with the service of the front desk officers. I notify them about my itineraries so that they can arrange my pick up and drop schedules to and from my destinations. This is very important since the resort is an hour and a half away from the city and shuttle charges on the average will cost you 2000Php to 2800Php per trip depending on the provider that you got.

The room given to us is very tidy. It comes with sa safety box, refrigerator, microwave heater, electric kettle, hair dryer, plates spoons and forks. All consumables are refilled daily. There is free wifi access for 2 devices. The problem that I have with our room is that we don't have telco signals inside the room.

For recreation, you can use the bicycle riding, Kayaking, use the videoke room, game room all for free. You just need to register since it is on a first come first serve basis. They have a waterpark also for a minimal fee. For our case, we had the whole waterpark all by ourselves enjoying the slides and the wave pool.

For the food, they are times that they will serve buffet for dinner. But with the limited choices on the buffet table, it is better to order the food in the ala carte menu. I can recommend that you try their "Bibingka" as a dessert or as a snack.

To summarize, We enjoyed our stay since we intend to disconnect from the city and have some relaxation. If you want to go and take the tours like the Underground River or the Firefly watching, better prepare to pay extra.
One suggestion is to take both the Underground River and Firefly watching on the same day to save on shuttle charges. Given that the Firefly watching ends around 830-900pm depending on the queue on that activity, you will really need to arrange a shuttle to get you back to Astoria.

First of all can't fault room, very modern and well equipped however given sea view rooms were empty would of been nice to be allocated one of these, secondly staff are very attentive even if they are over board sometimes but can't fault,
The pictures need updating, the lounges in the pool they don't exist, in fact there are 8 loungers around the pool for all to use, if your by the pool at this moment in time you will feel you are in middle of construction site, there are two machines (earth movers) constantly working on beach at moment, we understand work has to be done but no mention of it when booking or reduced rates, the beach and pool area attracts sand flies and they will bite all day long! Not helped by earth moving equipment
the food is ok, Luke warm dishes, the description states open kitchen to see food prepped, it's not, we went to order from menu and told it was 45min wait why not use the buffet, we did and it was ok

Summary: rooms great, staff great, beach unable to use, pool good, food ok,

Wouldn't return for the price

Astoria Palawan

We were booked for 3 nights in a one bedroom suite i. e. two individual room. The rooms are well furnished according to our needs. The gym equipment are complete & new. The pool is always clean, the length is OK but a bit narrow, not suited for guests making laps. Also the pool has no lane and wall markers. The staff helped me recover my sweater that i left in the van that brought us back from El Nido. Reasonable prices of tour packages. There is a Water Park owned by the hotel just beside this facility

We went to Palawan over this weekend and stayed at Astoria Palawan. We were really overwhelmed by the warm welcome and assistance of the their staff. We were also amazed on how they made their orientation for their facilities and resort tour interesting. The room was comfortable, serene in every way and has a modern touch. Foods were really exquisite and filipino inspired. What really made our stay at Astoria was their Spa. We will certainly be staying here again, probably longer than we had.
