Puerto Princesa Underground River was entered as the Philippine entry and topped the first round of voting in the New7Wonders of Nature competition. On July 29, 2011, after the second round of voting, it was declared 1 of 28 finalists. Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn extended his gratitude to all those who supported and voted for the PPUR.On November 11, 2011 it was provisionally chosen as one of the New 7 Wonders, together with the Amazon rainforest, Halong Bay, Iguazu Falls, Jeju Island, Komodo Island, and Table Mountain.

The experience was awe-inspiring. Gorgeous and well maintained. The guides were well trained and so in sync too. It's a two-hour trip from the city, a 20min boat/ferry ride then the actual bangka ride into the river.

Prepare to get wet until probably the knees when getting on / getting off the ferry - - would suggeest wearing shorts.

Our tour included a buffet lunch. Food was edible, the area was just incredibly crowded during lunch.

Go early to avoid the crowd, we left the city at 7am and there were already a small crowd of tourists there.

Very well run and good fun with an entertaining guide. Earpieces provide you with recorded commentary about features and history of these caves. Relaxing tour.

It is highly recommended to book the tour in advance and get a good travel agency when booking. We did't wait too long in boarding the boat going to the underground river. The overall tour is amazing and my parents loved it especially that it is their first time to visit Palawan. Pictures will be posted later..

A visit to the underground river is a fantastic experience if you are interested in what lies beneath coves tunnels caves etc. The formations of the rocks & river are stunning as well as the visual environment prior to entering the tunnel. An amazing experience
