My mother in law has always wanted to visit underground river so we spent 3 days in Palawan. The tour operator picked us up from hotel nice and early. Due to strange complicated way things are done in Phillipines we had to wait 1 1/2 hours for tour guide to get permits.we spent this time having an early lunch and also going on the optional but excellent mangrove river tour.

The underground river tour was an amazing experience.

Firstly it was a stunning 20-30 min boat ride to river and than a short walk through jungle to cave. We than spent around 20 mins waiting for our turn on tour boat.

Our boat tour guide was very helpful pointing out formations using torch and the audio visual guide was a great idea.

All in all it was a long day but well worth it.

Long 2+ hours drive on winding roads to get there but well worth the inconvenince of the journey. Very well organised once there with a nice boat ride in the open ocean (check weather first as boats stop in heavy weather) to get to where the caves are. Once there the ride on the canoe through the caves was fantastic, an experiecne I will not forget. Highly recommend!
