Great food, great service, huge selection of good to choose from, and portion sizes to feed a family.

Our Puerto Princesa experience had not been great before we went to Artisans. We had heard raves about it but we were careful not to get our hopes up, considering that good steaks are not easy to find, even in Manila. It is a small restaurant, seating maybe only 20 at a time (although they said they had a bigger area upstairs). The decor is interesting. Menu is quite extensive - I wish we could have come back for more. We had the 250g steak and the surf and turf. Steak was rightly-cooked (medium, as requested), with the right amount of salt and pepper. The lobster tails were so fresh! I also liked the mashed potatoes and the peppercorn sauce that went with the steak. Best of all, the price was very reasonable. We had a pleasant chat with the owner and told her we enjoyed the food. We will definitely go back if we find ourselves in Puerto Princesa again.

Had a great meal here, Tex Mex! They uave a vast array of house hot sauces, some extream the way I love it.

The menu is large, great choices, no local dishes, but I found that cool as most places are all more or less the same, so this stood out.

Service was good, packed but still did fine.

The Bar guy made a great house cocktail (3), met some fellow divers and finnished the night by hitting the Tikki Bar.

Six of us went to Artisans on a Saturday night and, surprisingly, we were able to be seated right away. The restaurant is very cozy - there are two large tables (which may be shared by multiple parties), and a couple of 2-tops, with one table outside. So, seating is not a guarantee.’

We started with appetizers for the table - salmon and a cheese and cold cut platter. Both were delicious. Three of our party ordered pasta dishes for their entrees, which also come with a HUGE “side” salad. One bowl of the salad could easily feed 2-3 people. I ordered the Greek salad in addition to my entree and it was likewise gigantic.

The three pasta dishes were excellent, according to those eating them. My lamb medallions were perfect and just the right amount of food. Another in our party ordered the burrito and when it arrived, we burst out laughing. It barely fit on the plate and defied being picked up. The final dish was mi goreng and, according to the person who ordered it, it was as delicious as any she had had while living in Indonesia.

The owner stopped by our table to chat and was delightful. The only thing I would have changed about the evening was that there was a performer doing live music, and in such a small venue, it drowned out any conversation. With food this good, you don’t need a reason to pull people into the bar/restaurant.

Prices were extremely reasonable, especially given the quality and the amount of portions.

Word to the wise: consider sharing plates. We felt badly that we left so much of our food uneaten, but it was just too much and we were leaving the island early the next day, so there was no reason to take leftovers with us.

Would have been all 3 nights but they were closed our first night in Puerto. Ate the 2 beef pies with potatoes, salad and gravy. So solid and really enjoyed the chicken Tikka masala the night before. We took guests who live in Puerto who I know will now be regulars. This couple know their stuff and is undoubtedly the best restaurant in Puerto Princesa for our tastes and vibe. Many thanks Artisans.
