We've stayed in similar quality hotels with beachfront locations all over S.E.Asia for consistently about 50% less cost. So Doublegem is horribly overpriced ... but then, so is all of El Nido it seems. Aside from the extremely poor value for money, it is one of the best options in El Nido, so if you're happy to pay for it, then it's a good choice. The view and location is outstanding. The restaurant serves reasonably good food (by Palawan's standards anyway), the staff are excellent (which is not common in Palawan), the pool is great and the rooms are simple but fine.

Dear guest,

Thank you for the good things you have pointed out about our resort.

Hotels and resorts all over the world I believe can't be compared because environment is very different. The same is true when it comes to attractions, each place with its own attractions.

Hope you get to appreciate also the unique beauty and atmosphere of our El Nido.

* So amazed of how beautiful Palawan is. Just kinda sad on how people from El Nido treat tourists and foreigners just for the money. Paid almost 30k pesos for a hotel with really poor service and staff having no simple hotel etiquette & manners.
* Our room was located across the road of the main hotel & kinda isolated which meant that we had no phone signal and wifi. Even the wifi at the main building is still useless as we can only browse the internet of certain time.
* We’ve been told on arrival/check in that beach towels would be provided on request. But when it was our time to go for the tours, we’ve been advised that we have to ask the tour organisers for our towels as they didn’t book our tours at their hotel.
* On arrival at our room, no hot water & the water pressure was really low and we had to contact the reception for it. Maintenance guy arrived, and we were told by the guy that there’s hot water, we just had to run it for at least 5mins. It didn’t work btw after he left.
* Breakfast is free for 2 people but since we were three booked in, we had to pay for the extra person for 500pesos. 2nd day on bfast, we were told by another group of guests to not pay for it as they didn’t pay theirs, I had to escalate it but breakfast lady still insisted of us paying of which we did. But she had to chase me up for it in-front of the other guests. Basically I was left in the resto (as my other companions went up to the hotel to do their business) and the designated person to collect & pay for the group’s bfast. I saw a long queue by the receiving area & I had to line to wait for my turn, but bfast lady had to chase me up while I was queuing & mentioned of us paying. I was so irritated at the bfast lady, (she btw had to stop what was she’s doing, entertaining the guest for room #s and table) I had to rudely show her the money and complained of what she did. No apologies given to me but instead just carried on what she was doing.
* There are numerous occasions where I had to borrow their hair dryer but every time I ask the front desk they will always say all hair dryers were already taken by other guests and no effort of chasing them up (they even have no list or guest who loaned their hair dryers) to accommodate my request.
* I would suggest to every staff to obtain hotel and restaurant management course/training to at least reduce the burden of every guests going in to their hotel seeing them so miserable and showing some disrespects. That is for the future of their hotel to be honest. I don’t care what the hotel looks like but at least staff shows some hospitality and proper hotel etiquette.

Dear guest,

All hotels have their own policies and I suppose it is just proper to respect as it is. The terms and conditions of our resort are all clear, including the facilities and amenities we have for the guests. These are stated on our website and all the website of Agoda and Expedia. Before you made the decision, I am sure you have also read all of these terms and conditions, including that of the other hotels in elnido.

It is always the primary concern of all our staffs to attend to all the needs of our guests. But there are just some concerns that are Beyond our control like internet connections. To expect more than we have included under our terms and conditions are not fair.

Hope this settles the matter.

Maria

Great location, and very friendly, helpful stuff especially Joelyn, Jiffany and West. The breakfast was basic but eating in the restaurant for lunch and dinner was yummy! the chef cooks delicious plats.

Room tip: The sea side view rooms are more expensive so book any room since you always have an access to the beach

Room wasn’t the cleanest (our bed sheet was sandy). Towels were not very clean either and had stains. Breakfast was ok (pancakes and egg station were commendable) otherwise it was poor. Sunset is beautiful from the pool and room, however the experience was very normal for the higher than average price paid.
