We stayed at the Frangipani in October 2019 - I selected it due to wanting a good hotel but not being subject to the isolation the high end hotels in the area have due to being on the smaller Islands. The Frangipani is perfectly positioned to being quiet but still within reach of the town and Corong Corong bars.

The only negative thing about the hotel is the Wi-Fi however we were aware that El\Nido has issues with this prior to travel, so be warned.

The room was spacious and clean with a nice balcony and bathroom. The staff are great, really helpful and friendly. Breakfasts are very good, cooked to order and filling; we missed these when we moved on from El Nido and the higher end hotels we stayed in at Coron and Manila had nothing close to the Frangipani for quality and taste.

The hotel also has fantastic views which are awesome for sunsets and photographs.

In summary:
Great location, good value, great staff.

The good:
* The staff here are superb! From the moment we walked in and got our complimentary coconuts to the minute we left with a packed lunch for our flight the staff were faultless. Always going a little out of the way to find solutions to things that were out of their control (like when it started pouring when we took our tricycle to the airport and the manager found some plastic to cover our suitcases), and giving us an extra few hours before we had to check out. We were given a lovely bottle of wine for our recent engagement and also had a very sweet turn down service with local cakes and personalised messages each evening.
* The rooms really have the most spectacular view and are far enough away from el nido town to be very quiet.
* The food in the restaurant kept us coming back (for almost every meal)! Amazing!

Stuff you just need to understand about the island:
* The wifi is slow... this is everywhere on the island tho!
* There’s rubbish on the beach.... if you want, you can take out their free kayak for day trips to one of the many surrounding beaches.
* the hotel can’t be everyone’s transport all the time.. if you need, the walk into the town is 30 minutes all flat, or a tricycle is 100 peso. This wasn’t an issue for us.

We would definitely recommend this place to anyone travelling there. We felt awful that we had no cash left when we checked out but every member of staff including the kitchen deserves a tip from everyone going there and management should keep them happy as they make the place worth staying at.

Thanks for everything frangipani!

We booked 2 nights here at the end of our trip in El Nido. We thought paying $400 per night would be very luxurious but overall we would pay about $200 per night for this in Australia or only $100 per night in Bali, so we found it strange that prices in El Nido are so high.

Pros - Staff very friendly, rooms very large, decor is modern and rooms are clean with a nice view of Corong-Corong beach, the pool is nice but small. Breakfast was good.

Cons- We didn’t get hot water until our second night’s stay, wifi didn’t work in the rooms (only at the bar), they charged 500 pesos per way for going into El Nido town - at $400 per night we expected this would be a complimentary service as other hotels included this for free and charged less per night, the roof leaked but they moved us to a different room and gave a complimentary dinner for the inconvenience which was fair enough, there’s no hotel grounds except the pool and you can’t swim at the beach (this beach has the town storm water drains feed into it so we saw dead rats and rubbish on the beach) if you want to swim you need to go to Vanilla Beach aka Las Cabanas aka Marimegmeg beach. You can take a tricycle there for 100 pesos.
They don’t have a day spa so the massage service is a mobile service where they set up the beds in your room. The massage wasn’t very good- more like a Bali beach massage but 4 times the price. We found a day Spa in the Vanilla beach shops and at Lio beach - both looked like proper Massage Parlours and prices were half the cost compared to what we got charged at the hotel.

Overall it was a pleasant stay but we believed it was over-priced for what you get.

We spent 4 days at the hotel and paid way too much for the service received. We paid kind of 16000 PHP per night, which is A LOT compared to the prices you'll pay for the food, transportation, tours, rentals, activities or whatever).
The price only includes breakfast.
The wifi does not work most of the time and when it does is slow, so make sure you don't have to use it to book tours or do the flight check-in.
The price includes kayak and paddle surf boards.

The staff is awesome and the room is very nice.
But again, the price is super high for what you get.

Dear gecoltra,

On behalf of the entire Frangipani El Nido Team, I would like to thank you for taking the time in writing us a review and providing feedback.

We take pride in providing a unique holiday experience to our guests which separates us from the other accommodations on the mainland of El Nido. We are taking your comment to heart to further improve our services to meet guests expectations.

It is unfortunate as well that we could not provide you with satisfactory internet service during your stay. We, however, have placed all necessary tools and equipment to boost access to the internet but given the infrastructure by the network provider on the island, and especially on our strip compared to that of town and Lio area, there are days when it can be unpredictable for our area. Rest assured that we are continuously working on providing our guests with a better internet connection

If you could kindly contact me directly at the hotel. I truly hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back, so we can provide you with the exceptional experience that our guests have come to expect from us.

We had a fantastic stay (4 nights) at Frangipani and would definitely recommend to others visiting El Nido.

PROS
- Beautifully decorated throughout.
- Located out of the noise of El Nido town.
- Staff incredibly polite and courteous.
- Staff excellent at arranging island hopping tours for us (special shout out to Lovelyn Tours and our wonderful guide Erwin)
- Food was excellent in the restaurant, big breakfast and good selection for dinner.
- When we had to leave early to catch the ferry to Coron, the hotel made us a delicious breakfast sandwich and gave us a bottle of water to take with us.
- Little touches were very thoughtful such as leaving small parcels of home made cake in our room.

CONS
- If it matters to you, please be aware that the WIFI was very slow.

We would also highly recommend getting a tricycle to Las Cabanas beach (also known as Marimegmeg) which is less than 10mins from Frangipani and costs 100PHP. It is a lovely beach and Maremegmeg Beach Bar is fantastic for drinks and dinner while watching the sunset.

Thank you Frangipani for a wonderful stay! It was the best start to our holiday in the beautiful Philippines :-).
