Nice time, great babysitter for our son!!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Feb 22, 2016
So nice! We stayed there 3 nights for diving. My husband and I had our 2 years old with us and we were able to have a babysitter with us while going diving. The staff was so great! They all liked him. We felt at home! The food was great, the service too. Overall, I was happy to be there. I never feel stressed, great family-run business. The rooms were comfortable and it is really near the sea.

We stayed for a total of 7 days, 6 nights during the month of January. The staff is not only the most attentive staff I have ever encountered, but they quickly became friends. They knew us by name by the second day of our stay here and made us feel like family. The only issue that we encountered was the water quit working, but it was fixed within 20 minutes of alerting the staff of the issue. The chef made the most delicious food I have ever eaten and the food was prepared quickly. Price wise, everything was very well priced and to be expected. Coming from an American's perspective, everything was fairly inexpensive in comparison to American prices. It is maybe 200 yards from Scandi Divers and all of the staff work in conjunction with each other. Our schedule was very subject to change, and they worked with us to allow for us to experience everything we had on our agenda. Scandi Divers was incredible and moved their plans around to accommodate our schedule, something I have never experienced from a dive shop before. All of their equipment was is great condition and we all felt safe and secure with the dive instructors and masters that dove with us. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here and hope to visit again.

Room tip: Rooms on top floor open to the water have the best view. All rooms provide some sort of view.

We stayed at Campbell's Beach Resort for a total of 5 weeks across November, December, and January 2015/16.
We had an absolutely wonderful experience, mostly due to the above-and-beyond staff working at Campbell's!
The beachfront rooms are ok. Room 1 and 2 are small, and if you want to stay as a couple in these rooms you either need to be much in love, or ready to fight for the bed! :-)
Rooms 3 and 4 are perfect for two, and the family rooms 5 and 6 are very nice. We stayed in rooms 1, 4, and 6 at intervals, due to a free upgrade from the small room when the other rooms were available!

The restaurant has a superb view across the Laguna, and the staff working there are all very experienced and go out of their way to accommodate the guests. We have three children, age 8, 10, and 11, and ordering food takes not just a while, but sometimes forever! Nevertheless we never felt any pressure to get the orders done with, and we felt at home from day one.

Even when we asked for pizza (not on the menu) it was no problem - the staff simply picked up the phone and ordered it from Campbell's sister resort, Scandi Divers, a few hundred meters down the beach!

We miss the amazing staff at Campbell's, especially Cristine and all the girls in the restaurant, and Eddie in maintenance who always always always had time to high-five our son!

I have such mixed feelings about this place. Overall I was happy with our stay but I still had some big frustrations. We spent 4 nights, in 2 rooms.

The good: location is at the end of La Laguna beach, so avoids the noise and craziness, but is still a close walk when you want to experience it. That was my big reason for choosing this place. The deluxe room we had was fine, though nothing outstanding. View over the ocean was great. Staff does not allow vendors or other non-guests onto the property, which is great. At other hotels we saw, non-guests smoking and drinking seemed to outnumber the guests and would definitely affect the experience.

The negatives: their website (and the staff in daily talk) calls the rooms 'cottages' so we were expecting exactly that - a separate cottage. Be aware that these are motel quality ROOMS, not cottages or cabins. Cleanliness is mediocre at best. Add poor cleaning to old and tired rooms, and you get a mediocre room experience. Staff was all great, very friendly. But then, so are pretty much all filipinos.

When, after 2 nights I was tired of sharing a room and took an available 'family cottage' At a higher cost, I was quite disappointed with the room. Dirty and grubby, with a terrible mattress. It felt like springs covered with a sheet. Bathroom does not have a shower stall or curtain. Yet the room costs more than the deluxe!

Restaurant food is average, nothing great, but they do charge less than other places so it's fine.

Be prepared to pay in pesos or pay a 4% surcharge.

So, overall, just fine. Just know what you are getting into.

A couple of corrections . We do not charge a surcharge for payment not in Pesos. We accept US dollars and Euro s happily. In fact our room and diving prices are listed in USD. The cottages are considerably less in price than the Deluxe rooms. They are double cottages ( 2 rooms in each of 3 cottages).

The cottages are our most popular rooms with guests returning again and again to stay in these small cottages since they are right on the beach only 5 meters from the waters edge.
If the cleanliness is not up to guests standards then it not up to our standards either. We have made changes in the cleaning personnel to improve the room cleanliness. We are burdened with small bathrooms in these small beach cottages because there is no room to expand on the property which is right on the beach.

We stayed here for a week while taking dive courses with their sister resort Scandi Divers. We took the small beachside cottage. The room is just enough for two but the view is just beautiful. It's just 50 meters from the dive shop. If you want a quiet place to stay then this is the best place for you.

First solo diving trip. Actually lived at Campbell's, Scandi's sister hotel, which is only 3 mins walk.
Location is great, big la laguna beach is a perfect choice if you are a person who don't like noisy bars around at night.
People is the huge plus: from the dive instructor to the dive center's staff, everyone is very friendly, experienced and responsible - you won't be disappointed with the service.
Room is clean, in decent size (lived in the deluxe one which are all faced to the ocean). Would be better if the AC could be less loud...
Would be happy to go back!
