Quiet and relaxing stay

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 27, 2017via mobile
Went there for our anniversary, the place is intimate and relaxing.

Pros: The staff is the resort's best asset! They're super friendly and helpful with anything you need. They're prepared for you when you arrive and when you depart. The pools are nice and warm. The pool in the pool villa is also nice to stay in. Food is good (try their adobo) but a bit pricey. They have board games! Rental of snorkeling gear and kayaks are free. No corkage for food

Cons:
Bring insect repellant, I have heaps of mosquito bites. Bring powerbanks, they get brown outs when it rains hard. You have to swim in other beaches as theirs isn't really suitable for swimming.

Will be staying here again :)

We didn't expect that Buri Resort will give us the perfect experience to relax and enjoy our time together as a couple.
They offered a free boat transfer from Muelle going to their resort. Upon arrival, they gave us drinks and a free foot massage 👌🏻 Perfect!! They have 2 main swimming pools beside their restaurant.
Their restaurant also offers great food!
Going to our room, we need to go up around 100 small steps (so make sure you don't forget anything when you go up to your room or go down the restaurant) It's a good exercise though! 😅
Inside our room there's a ref, tv, complete toiletries and a super mini pool. However, there was a number of mosquitoes when we had a dip in the late afternoon..
The wifi is limited around the reception area and restaurant only. No wifi in our room.
Overall the place was a great venue to relax, experience nature and have a quality time with your family.
Oh btw, they also offer free physical fitness training (by schedule) and free use of kayak around the area. 😄👍🏻

Our stay in Buri Resort and Spa was pretty awesome! The island is secluded and offers nature view, there's a variety of trees and plants in the place! They offer free private boat transfers from Muelle port to the property and vice versa. As we disembark the boat and upon entering the resort, we were warmly welcomed by the staffs. They offered us immediately a welcome drink (calamansi juice) which is so refreshing. After checking-in, we had our foot massage then we were assisted to our room, Garden Villa. Surprisingly, our room is already ready by that time, around 11am! Perks of lean season! We got Dahlia and it's so chic and fab! It was mainly made of buri, it has outdoor bathroom and tub, and attic. Kayak is free of use and other swimming equipment. The pool is nice and well-maintained. The food is tasty but pricey, Chicken Pork Adobo is the best in the menu! Island hopping tours are offered in the front desk and it is a must try! We've done snorkeling to the giant clam, fish feeding, and underground cave visit. It's Php800 plus Php200 per pax per site plus Php600 for boat transfers. Altho it's pricey, it is super worth it! All staff are greatly commendable. However, there are few downsides of it that I hope the management must look into such as: there are lot of mosquitoes in the room, expensive menu, no wifi at all, weak tv signal and the beach needs an improvement and development as you can't swim because of seaweeds and corals. So here are some tips:
1) Book on weekdays for lesser rate and fewer guests. We felt like we own the property esp. the pool at all time!
2) Bring snack or ready to eat meals. Water heater is provided in rooms. We brought instant coffee and noodles!
3) Bring pocket wifi. Mobile network signal there is good. We used data and connection is fast!
4) Advisable to bring insect repellent lotion. Mosquitoes are everywhere, always ensure to keep the doors of your room closed!

Overall, if you would like to stay in a quiet, relaxing and hassle free property, choose Buri, it is highly recommended! An overnight stay is definitely not enough and we are hoping to be back at this property some other time and experience their Pool Villa and try their spa. But if you would like to party, do some activities (e.g. parasailing, jet ski), food tripping, bar hopping, souvenir shopping and enjoy the beach, choose to stay in White Beach. There are lot of budget-friendly accommodations out there and the locals will offer and help you to choose one.

I would have to say that seeing Buri from the outside can be rather deceiving. A white wall fronts the property, just behind a narrow shoreline, and everything else is covered in trees. But as you enter the premises, you are greeted by a veritable eden: flowers (pink, red, orange, white and purple), vines, a mix of lush plants and shrubbery, and old thick trees piece together a harmonious existence between man and nature.

The white villas stand on the hillside connected by a long stone staircase at the very center. Nights are filled with peace and absolute quiet, while birds sing their unfettered songs when you wake.

The pools (infinity pool & deep pool) offer travellers a comforting dip after a long journey or respite from saline day tours.

The food didn't disappoint either. Service is quick, the kitchen boasts a broad menu, and portions are good. Plus, they have quite the selection of wine & spirits to cater to all kinds of tastes.

The entire staff is very friendly -always ready with a smile- and very accommodating. Cheers to Onec & the rest of the service crew, Christine (housekeeping), and, of course Toots Aldeguer (management) who ensured we were looked after until our departure from Puerto Galera.

A very special mention to Rey, captain of the Sea Warrior, for making it feel like caring for his passengers is as natural as breathing- when service and pride in one's craft becomes genuine kindness. Thank you for an unforgettable spin above the Coral Garden and beyond.

My only advice is to book early and be strategic with the upward effort to the villas.

We loved our stay here and we are very thankful to Buri for showing us a side of Mindoro that we had never seen.

firstly, would like to commend toots aldeguer and ricky for their warm welcome and personal interaction with guests. this is also felt from their staff. what made our stay extra special is toot's son "B". he is very friendly and patient enough that i learned the basics of swimming because of him😃

Buri has 2 fantastic pools. An infinity pool and a lap pool surrounded by lush landscaping.

For their exclusive amenities and facilities, Buri has a competitive room rate.

like all things, there is room for improvement. firstly, all restrooms should have bidets which is already the norm these days. Tv signal is poor despite the availability of numerous channels, switch to Cignal and this might be easily solved! Lastly, wifi is only in the restaurant. since buri is a compact resort, wifi access in all rooms should be doable too.

in summary, buri may not be a new resort but its PPP plus with a few improvements as mentioned above, buri will continue to be our top pick in Puerto Galera!

We had a very pleasant stay in the resort..it is very capacious and very relaxing. The villas are commodious and spacious where you can relax at the end day. The resort is designed with elevated pathway and the stairs going to their respective villas that provides more space and privacy in each villa.

The staff are very accommodating and attentive to the needs of the guest.

My only complain is that they are taking so much time serving the food to which I called their attention and I appreciate the fact that they humbly made up for it. While there's nothing extraordinary with the food it is neither bad..the food can truly satisfy one's discerning palate and filling.

They have several mango trees and it was fortunate that it's mango season. You can have delicious green mangoes. You can either pick for yourself or you can ask the staff to get some for you.

They have great customer service- from the time you make reservation until you check out.

I would definitely recommend which... I already did and will absolutely come back.

Thank you so much Ricky and Jamie!
