We travelled with our family here on a tour- the Buddha was spectacular and surroundings definitely worth a visit. Lunch at the buddhist temple was delicious vegetarian. Worth a visit

We opted to take the cable car up to the village which had a massive queue but the ride made the wait totally worth it. You get a superb view of the Buddha on the ride up. The village itself is just a little tourist shopping village but quite pleasant (Tip: use the loos in the shopping village, not the ones at the monastery, as they are far nicer). Getting up to the Buddha involves a lot of steps but it is cooler at the top and the views are good. After that we went to have a look around the monastery and had a snack at the little cafe just to the left of the monastery- tasty bakery and welcome cold drinks. Rather than take the cable car back, we caught the bus down to the ferry , a steep and exciting journey! There is a street market down by the ferry terminal and lots of cafes overlooking the water. Caught the ferry back to central pier for more fantastic views. A really good day out.

If you are not a shopping fan, this is a place you should visit if you are in Hong Kong, even though the entrance looks like an amusement park (lots of restaurants, souvenirs shops and even 3D shows), the monastery is wonderfull.

Pick the glass floor cabin that should upgrade you to quick access through the queues, otherwise over a couple of hours waiting.

We enjoyed the cable cars, nothing really exciting about the rest.

Can’t recommend this place highly enough... if you can manage the cable car ride and the steps it’s definitely worth a visit.
Staff are very kind in gift shop. If you buy tickets to go inside the Buda the money is redeemable on food or gifts afterwards... such a beautiful thought, and inspired us to give further... so Thank you
